PRACTICAL WARMTH FOR A MELBOURNE WINTER

Hayden’s Helping Hands is incredibly grateful to the Harcourts Foundation ( Harcourts Foundation Australia ) for awarding us a generous grant to support our winter relief program.

This funding has helped us purchase blankets, beanies, gloves, warm socks and other winter essentials for people experiencing homelessness.

These items have been distributed directly through our weekly Melbourne outreach, giving our street friends practical protection against the cold, wet and unpredictable winter weather.

For someone sleeping rough, a warm blanket or dry pair of socks can make an enormous difference. Thanks to the Harcourts Foundation, we have been able to provide that warmth and care to many more people this winter.

THERMAL WARMTH WHEN IT’S NEEDED MOST

Hayden’s Helping Hands is incredibly grateful to the Tobin Brothers Foundation (Tobin Brothers )for awarding us a generous grant for our winter warmth program.

This funding enabled us to purchase a large supply of quality thermal tops and bottoms in a wide range of sizes. These have been distributed directly to people experiencing homelessness through our weekly Melbourne outreach.

When someone is sleeping rough during a freezing Melbourne winter, thermal clothing is much more than a layer of warmth—it can make a genuine difference to their health and wellbeing.

**Every tax-deductible donation made before midnight can help put warmth into the hands of someone who needs it most.**

This Sunday, our volunteers were once again on the streets supporting people experiencing homelessness. We handed out warm clothing, beanies and other essentials, but the need is still overwhelming.

As Melbourne's winter continues, there are still far too many people facing freezing nights without enough warm clothing or bedding.

KNITTERS NEEDED: BEANIES AND GLOVES ARE URGENTLY NEEDED THIS WINTER

This Sunday’s outreach was the second weekend of our Winter Warm Packs.

With the cold weather really setting in, we were able to hand out warm clothing and winter essentials to help our street friends get through another freezing week.

Everyone was incredibly thankful, but a number of people also asked if we could help source more beanies and gloves, as the wind has been especially cold.

In past winters, some of the most appreciated items we have received have been handmade knitted beanies, gloves and fingerless gloves.

So we are putting the call out to our wonderful knitters:

If you can knit beanies or gloves, we would be very grateful. These items will go directly to people sleeping rough and doing it tough this winter.

If knitting is not your thing, you are also very welcome to donate new beanies, gloves or funds to help us purchase what is needed.

Small items. Big difference.

On Sunday, we were treated to something special.

Students from kindly baked ANZAC biscuits for ANZAC weekend, and they went down an absolute treat. It’s always great to see young people getting behind the community in such a meaningful way.

As we head into the colder months, we’re starting to prepare for winter. If you’re able to help, DM us, we’re currently seeking donations of:

These biscuits with Easter eggs hidden inside went down an absolute treat 🍪 The smiles said it all.

A big thank you again to the students from for putting these together, along with the lovely food packs. These will be handed out during emergency callouts, as we often get requests from local families needing immediate support.

Always appreciated and clearly enjoyed by our street friends.
