Today we celebrate World Ranger Day and recognise the incredible work of Rangers across Australia and around the world who dedicate their lives to caring for Country.
For the Taribelang Bunda Rangers, being a Ranger is more than a job-it’s a responsibility, a privilege, and a way of continuing the work of our Ancestors. Every day we are out on Country protecting our waterways, beaches, plants, animals, and cultural heritage, ensuring they remain healthy for future generations.
We are passionate about caring for Country because when Country is healthy, our people are healthy.
Through the guidance of our Elders and the sharing of cultural knowledge, we combine Traditional knowledge with modern conservation practices to look after the places that have looked after us for thousands of generations.
Today we also acknowledge and thank all Rangers for the important work they do. Together, we are making a difference for our environment, our communities, and the generations yet to come.

🌊🐢 On Country, On Reef – Taribelang Bunda Rangers at Lady Musgrave Island 🐢🌊

Our Taribelang Bunda Rangers have been travelling out to Lady Musgrave Island, spending some incredible days on the reef caring for Country and strengthening their knowledge in marine conservation.

Working alongside Reef Master Guide Eamon from , our rangers gained valuable hands-on learning — building skills in reef monitoring, conservation practices, and understanding the delicate balance of this unique ecosystem.

From removing waste and keeping the island and surrounding waters clean, to tackling the destructive drupella snails that threaten our coral reefs, the team is playing an active role in protecting these important environments for future generations.

Every step taken on the reef is guided by culture, responsibility, and a deep connection to Sea Country — ensuring our reef systems continue to thrive.

📌 This project is part of the $34 million Reef Assist program, funded by the Queensland Government as part of the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program.

Taribelang Aboriginal Corporation (TAC) is seeking a Ranger who will deliver projects within TAC’s Ranger Program. Project activities may include cultural heritage management, revegetation restoration, catchment management, community engagement, threatened species management and monitoring and maintenance work. This position is an Indigenous identified position and will be a temporary full-time position of 76 hours per fortnight.
