Kristi McVee is holding some great discussions about keeping kids safe.
This one for parents of Teens / Tweens is being held on 22nd September from 7:30-8:30 AEST and will cover topics like:
👉 what grooming can actually look like
👉 consent basics and what consent looks like in their every day world
👉 building trust - so they can come to you when something is unsafe
👉 online dangers that our kids are facing today
👉 what they need to know before parties and sleepovers
👉 how we can help prepare our young people as they build independence and grow

Have you seen the local activities happening for Child Protection Queensland Child Protection Week in September. It all kicks off in 2 weeks' time. Save the date for Rainbow Day Sept 11, bring the kids and have a great day out :)

The Bundaberg Child Protection Week Action Group is a passionate and dedicated collective committed to promoting the safety, wellbeing and protection of children and young people within our community.

At the heart of our group are our valued volunteers, whose time, commitment and passion are integral to everything we do. Our Action Group is also proudly made up of representatives from a range of government and non-government agencies and organisations, all bringing their own knowledge, experience and dedication to this important work.

Together, we plan and support events, activities and initiatives that raise awareness and encourage our community to play a role in protecting children and young people.

Our achievements are built on collaboration, shared ideas and collective effort. While individual contributions are valued and appreciated, the work and initiatives of the Bundaberg Child Protection Week Action Group — including our Annual Child Protection Week Dinner, Safer Communities Workshop, Rainbow Day, Colouring In Comp & CP Week Award, — are proudly the result of the collective efforts of our many dedicated volunteers, members and supporting organisations.

We are stronger together, and it is through this shared commitment that we can continue to make a meaningful difference for children and young people in our community.

RIDE FOR KIDS 2026 - it's time to rev it up!

We’re so excited to have MACE - Wide Bay (Motorcyclists Advocating Child Empowerment) launching us into Sexual Violence Awareness Month in October with a fantastic community event — and we are reaching out to see if you want to join us.

Ride for Kids is raising funds in support of Phoenix House, bringing riders and the wider community together for a morning of bikes, connection and a great cause. 💜

Registration is taken on the day and is $20 per vehicle. Bring bikes, cars and trucks. Everyone is welcome.

The Sexual Violence Review Board is currently seeking people to share their experiences of providing digital evidence.
If you are a victim-survivor who has provided digital evidence - such as a mobile phone, messages, social media communications, photos or other digital material - you can share your experience in a voluntary and confidential conversation. It does not matter if your case did not proceed to court.
The Review Board also welcomes insights from specialist support workers who have supported victim-survivors through these processes.
Conversations take approximately 60 minutes and can be held online, by phone or in person.
If you work with victim-survivors, please consider sharing this post with your networks or with people you support who may wish to participate.

The Sexual Violence Review Board wants to hear from victim-survivors and specialist support workers to better understand experiences of providing digital evidence during the criminal justice process.

This might include sharing:
📱 mobile phones
💻 laptops or other devices
💬 text messages or social media communications
📷 photos or other digital material

If you're a victim-survivor and feel ready to participate, your experiences can help identify practical ways to improve how Queensland's justice system responds to sexual violence. You can take part regardless of whether your matter progressed to court.

If you're a specialist support worker or service, please consider sharing this opportunity with people you support and, where appropriate, assisting them before, during or after their conversation with the Review Board.

Conversations are:

✔️ Approximately 60 minutes
✔️ Available online, by phone or in person

Every insight shared contributes to a stronger understanding of where systems can improve and helps inform recommendations to better support victim-survivors across Queensland.

Today we held a wonderful Collage Workshop for Phoenix House clients. We shared meaningful connection, conversations and creativity, and the finished products really are awe-inspiring.

This year's theme, NO MORE SILENCE - PREVENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE, is all about finding your voice and empowering others to find theirs, and the collages created today sure reflect that.

We will share them in full as we lean closer towards Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SVAM) in October. SVAM is an annual campaign that aims to bring communities together to raise awareness, support victim-survivors, and work towards preventing sexual violence.

Thank you to Queensland Sexual Assault Network for the financial support that helped us host our workshop today. It really was a great outcome.
