Recently Bundaberg Sunrise Rotary had an outing to the Yandaran Hotel. We had a lovely lunch which was made particularly special because of the outstanding service from Oliver. This week our club presented him with an Award for Service Excellence.
"Oliver, a 10-year-old Home School Student, did an absolutely brilliant job as the waiter for our Rotary Club Country Lunch at Yandaran Hotel. He was excellent in his service, very well dressed, and running around and delivering meals with a broad smile and friendly greeting.
He spoke meticulously way beyond his years. While delivering all the meals to members, he also took time to applaud raffle winners. In between the main course and desert, he moved around quickly and picked up and returned used plates and cutlery to the kitchen, enquiring of everyone individually "Did you enjoy your meal?". Then he delivered all deserts to members, handing it to us and saying "Enjoy". At the end of deliveries, when one desert order was not what had been ordered, he insisted he could return it and get what had been ordered. At the end of the lunch, he warmly thanked everyone as they left. Everyone was charmed by Oliver's Youthful Exuberance and Excellence and his service could not have been bettered by senior staff with many years of experience. While the "Granny from the Yanny" is an icon of the Yandaran Hotel in Media advertising, Oliver is already a superstar and the Hospitality World is his oyster, and his service made everyone wanting to come back to savour more of his charisma."
