We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Scout Leaders or Group support members as part of our committee. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives while developing your own skills, experiences and giving back to your community at the same time.
Who are we?
Millbank Scout Group is a vibrant community group committed to the personal development of young people through a diverse range of programs and activities. We have been doing this for over 50 years withing the Bundaberg community! We aim to instill values of respect, integrity, and cooperation, while preparing our youth to be responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
Positions available: Scout Leaders – Joeys, Cubs or Scouts
Group Support – Committee members
Responsibilities:
Leaders:
- Plan, organise, and lead weekly Scout meetings and outdoor activities (when required).
- Mentor and support either Joeys aged 5-8, Cubs aged 8-11 or Scouts aged 11 to 14, guiding your chosen unit through their personal and skill development.
- Ensure all activities comply with Scouts Queensland's safety and program guidelines.
- Collaborate with other leaders and volunteers to deliver a balanced and engaging program.
- Attend training sessions and leader meetings as required.
Group Support:
- Help in maintaining existing facilities for leaders to offer and run youth programs in a safe environment.
- Attend training sessions and committee meetings as required.
- Support Group incentives, fundraising initiatives and promote community involvement.
Requirements – for both Leadership or Group Support:
- Must be at least 18 years old and already hold a current QLD Working with Children Blue Card. (Or be prepared to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card).
- Commitment to the principles and values of Scouting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with young people and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undergo necessary training in Workplace Health and Safety, Child Protection and background police checks.

Training and Support:
Scouts Queensland and Scouts Australia provide extensive training to all leaders, ensuring you are well-prepared for your role. This includes online and face-to-face courses covering various aspects of Scouting leadership. All training is provided free of charge, and ongoing support is available to assist you in your journey.
