13th June 2026

πŸ₯Ά Brrr... it was a cold one at Bunbury parkrun this morning β€” perfect conditions for our visitors from Tasmania! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ίβ„οΈ

Despite the chilly start, 144 parkrunners and walkers turned out to enjoy a beautiful winter morning on the Big Swamp Wetlands, with 17 PBs, 13 first-timers and plenty of smiles all around.

A huge congratulations to Tijira Evans, who flew across the finish line in first place in a blistering 20:33 β€” and somehow still managed to be smiling all the way! πŸ˜„πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

A big thank you to our 11 wonderful volunteers led by the super organised Anna Fleming who made the event possible, and a special welcome to all our visitors from near and far.

It was great to warm our hand with a cuppa from Morning Motivator Coffee Van β˜•

Same time, same place next Saturday!

6 June 2026

What a weekend to be in Bunbury!

With perfect winter sunshine, visitors arriving from far and wide, and a massive AFL clash at the newly renovated Hands Oval, the city was buzzing before the first parkrunner had even crossed the start line.

A total of 156 finishers joined us for Bunbury parkrun #636, supported by an amazing team of 13 volunteers who made the morning possible. Thank you all for helping create another fantastic community event.

Before we got underway, Run Director Jason delivered a classic dad joke during the briefing. As expected, it generated a mixture of groans, eye-rolls and reluctant laughter. We wouldn't have it any other way!

We were delighted to welcome a number of visitors to Bunbury, many taking advantage of both the beautiful weather and the huge football weekend. The town certainly put on a show, and later in the day the Fremantle Dockers rewarded the purple faithful with a memorable performance at Hands Oval.

Speaking of sneaking around, our very own Jeanette Kerr managed to quietly creep up as quietly as a library officer on a remarkable milestone. She almost slipped under the radar as she completed her 250th parkrun. Congratulations Jeanette on an incredible achievement and thank you for being such a valued member of the Bunbury parkrun family.

Out on the course, first-timer Michail Muller led the field home in a speedy 18:24, while Ella Kuhn was the first female finisher in 22:23. Conditions were clearly ideal, with a stack of personal bests recorded throughout the field.

Special mention goes to some outstanding age-grade performances:
πŸ₯‡ Mary Morgan – 84.57%
πŸ₯ˆ Jacqueline Ross – 79.00%
πŸ₯‰ Vivienne Henderson – 75.29%

A huge welcome to all our first-timers and visitors. We hope you enjoyed your morning on the beautiful Bunbury Big swamp wetlands. and will visit us again soon.

Finally, thank you to our volunteers:

Jason Andrews, Jan Candy, Peter Hutchison, Russell Candy, Deborah Goss, Geof Branson, Kerry Stacey, Jessica Fireng, Stella Na, Marija Nugent, Ina Maritz, Dennis Coxall and Kenna Harris.

parkrun simply doesn't happen without volunteers. If you'd like to help out in coming weeks, please check the future roster or send an email or message.

Whether you came for parkrun, the football, the sunshine, or all three, Bunbury certainly delivered. We look forward to seeing everyone back next Saturday for another lap around our beautiful Wetlands.

It's shaping up to be a huge weekend in Bunbury with the ladder-leading Fremantle Dockers heading to town! πŸ’œβš“

Whether you're a proud Docker supporter decked out in purple, a loyal North Melbourne fan sporting blue and white, or you're just here for a morning walk, jog, run, volunteer or coffee, we'd love to see you at Bunbury parkrun.

Visitors coming to town for the footy? Start your weekend the best way possible with 5km around our beautiful course at the Big Swamp Wetlands. You'll find plenty of friendly faces, a few questionable football tips, and absolutely no requirement to agree on who'll win later in the day! πŸ˜‰ (Go the Dockers!!)

Who knows... perhaps the real contest this weekend isn't Dockers versus Kangaroos, but purple versus blue at parkrun!

So dust off your team colours, bring your biggest smile, and join us for another fantastic Saturday morning.

See you at the start line! πŸ’œπŸ’™

Bunbury parkrun #635
30th May 2026

A wonderful way to start the long weekend in Bunbury for 192 locals and visitors. We heard Quinn rocks parkrun mentioned and hope you didn't miss the hills of your home parkrun too much.

The biggest achievement of the morning may not have been a PB at allβ€”it was Run Director Amy successfully delivering a rain-free parkrun! After a long run of wet-weather duties, Amy finally enjoyed sunshine and blue skies while wearing the RD vest.
