So happy with this change

This morning the State Government announced that grieving friends and family will continue to be protected when they’re at their most vulnerable. That’s what the Funeral Pricing Code of Practice does and now will continue to do.

After a comprehensive consultation process, which showed strong support from both consumers and funeral directors, the Code will remain in force.

Before the Code came into effect on 1 May 2023 the cost sometimes wasn’t known until after the funeral was held, leading family and friends of the deceased to believe they had been overcharged.

Some people ended up with services and products they didn’t want or need, or couldn’t afford. Confusing ‘bundles’ with no itemised prices meant comparing costs between funeral directors was impossible.

Funeral Pricing Code of Practice means funeral directors must publicly display their prices for all services and packages on their website and each place of business so consumers can compare the costs themselves in the comfort of their home or with friends and family.

A basic package of the least expensive combination of essential goods and services must also be included in the public pricing. This is so people have a better understanding of the costs for the minimum legal requirements for a burial or cremation.

Before entering into a funeral agreement, the customer must also have been given an itemised quote.

A fabulous initiative from Tender Funerals Perth that is accessible to all of us in the South West.

We have recently partnered with EveryWill Australia / New Zealand online Will platform to offer our community the chance to write a legally reviewed Will completely free.

It’s something many of us intend to do, but often put off. And yet, having your wishes clearly documented can make a profound difference for the people around you when it matters most.

There’s no pressure and no catch, just a simple, practical way to put things in place.
Through this offer, you can:

🧡 Write your Will online
🧡 Have it legally reviewed for peace of mind
🧡 Protect and support the people who matter most to you
🧡 Create clarity for your family during an often over whelming time

At Tender, we see firsthand how much it helps when families feel confident that they are honouring the wishes of the person who has died. A Will is one way of offering that guidance and care, even when you’re no longer here.

If it feels right for you, some people also choose to leave a small gift in their Will to support a cause they care about. For us, that helps keep funeral care accessible, community-led, and grounded in compassion.

If you have any questions or would like to talk this through, we’re always here.
From your team at Tender.
