May Excursion - Donnybrook Bird Walk

Date: Sunday 17th May 2026

Time: 8.15am for 8.30am start

Leader: Woody Woodhouse

Meet: At the car park situated behind and below the War memorial on South West Highway. Entry to the car park approximately 50metres past the war memorial.

The walk of about 2.2 kms is a loop along both banks of the Preston River.

The track is mostly a fairly level concrete pathway although we will leave this at times to get closer to the river. We should see a good variety of birds in the vegetation on the riverbank.

Bring a comfortable chair and morning tea which can be enjoyed on the riverbank

For those who attended our recent Campout at Dryandra, there is a delightful exhibition on at the Collie Art Gallery, complete with a lovely soundscape.

Fragile Resilience

As a group, The Southwest Printmakers have collaborated verbally and physically; walking most of the trails and investigating printmaking methods and techniques based on their perceptions and responses to Dryandra Woodland. Individually, they became immersed in the Ecology, History, Diversity, Geology, Culture and Spirituality that Dryandra offers.

Join us for the opening of Fragile Resilience on Saturday, 25 October, at 2pm, and meet the artists.
An Artist Talk is organised on Sunday, 26 October, at 11am, when the participating artists take you through the creative process that led to the exhibition. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to join in.

Imagine Nature is the title of a printmaking workshop that the artists are organising in conjunction with the exhibition on Sunday, 2 November, 10am-3pm. Visit https://www.collieartgallery.org.au/imagine-nature/ for more details.
