PFLAG + Bunbury

PFLAG + Bunbury We are a parent led support group for parents, family, friends, carers & allies of the local LGBTQI+ community Watch this space for more info!!!

PFLAG+ Bunbury have been supporting people in Bunbury and the South West of WA since 2016; helping families and friends understand and support their LGBTQIA+ loved ones with knowledge, acceptance, love and pride. Our mission is to provide families and friends with access to current and accurate information and resources to help support their LGBTIQA+ child or loved one. We're changing it up this

year with a varied program of social events. In the works for 2024 are our peer support coffee catchups, community info stall at Bunbury Pridefest, and more. In the meantime if anybody needs support we are available for individual catch ups. Just reach out by sending a private message to this page. We provide a confidential, safe and warm environment where people can share concerns and receive comfort and reassurance. GROUP RULES FROM THE ADMINS

Increase the psychology 10-session Medicare cap

01/02/2025

AAPi's Executive Director Tegan Carrison is featured in this article in the Toowoomba Chronicle calling for the federal government to increase the cap on Medicare-rebated psychology sessions under the Better Access initiative.

Tegan emphasised that patients are hitting a “crisis point” as they exhaust their sessions, leading to worsening conditions and demoralising psychologists striving to provide adequate care, describing the cap as an “arbitrary government decision,” pointing out that other health services, such as GP visits, are not similarly restricted.

“We’re very much in a mental health crisis in this country… but unfortunately the government is just not prioritising access to services and care.”

AAPi is part of a coalition of psychology and consumer agencies all calling for an increase in the session cap, arguing that current limits leave patients “half-treated” and unable to achieve meaningful improvement.

Great event folks.

20/11/2024

Please share this far and wide folks. We will not be silenced.

Hello wonderful community.
As some of you may be aware by now, systems beyond our control are restricting our content. And we are not alone- this is happening to others in our proud lgbtqia-sb community.
So this is when we need your help. Please share our content, particularly as we lead up to our fabulous Pridefest 2024. Those of us at OUT South West will not have our voices quieted or our light dimmed. Once again we will stand up and be counted…for our community and for what we have built and believe in.
So stand with us and help us make this years Pridefest a celebration of epic proportions.
Thank you.
