Big news – with cautious optimism.
The Sunday Times is reporting that the WA Government may announce an end to No Grounds Evictions at the upcoming WA State Budget.
While this change has not yet been confirmed or legislated, we are hopeful this signals positive reform. If enacted, it would bring Western Australia into line with the rest of the country and provide greater stability and protection for more than 700,000 renters across WA.
Under the current system, renters have consistently reported feeling too scared to request maintenance or essential repairs — or even to try to negotiate a rent increase — for fear it could lead to eviction. Ending No Grounds Evictions would be a significant step toward addressing this imbalance and creating a fairer renting system.
Our organisation is a proud member of the Make Renting Fair WA alliance, which continues to advocate for stronger renter protections and a fairer WA.

We will be watching closely and hope this reported announcement becomes a reality.
