It’s that time of the year…AGM Time!!!
Our AGM will be held on Wednesday 21st of October to be exact.
And Intown Centre is current seeking nominations to join our board.
Intown Centre plays an important role within the Bunbury community, providing meals, connection and support to people who may be experiencing homelessness, vulnerability, isolation or simply need somewhere they feel welcome.
We are also entering an exciting and important period in the Centre's development.
Over the coming year, the Board will be working on strategic planning, strengthening our governance and organisational systems, considering opportunities to improve and revitalise the Centre, and looking at how Intown can continue to evolve to meet the needs of our community. For that reason, this is currently a hands-on Board.
While good governance remains at the heart of the Board's role, at this stage in Intown's development we are looking for Board members who are willing to contribute their ideas, experience and, at times, practical assistance to help move initiatives forward.
As the organisation develops, the Board's role is expected to become increasingly strategic and oversight-focused, but right now there is a genuine opportunity to be involved in helping shape what comes next.
You don't need to have previous Board experience, and you certainly don't need to be an expert in everything.
We are interested in people who care about our community, are willing to contribute, can work collaboratively and bring their own knowledge, experience or perspective to the table.
Based on a recent review of our Board's collective skills, we would particularly welcome people with knowledge or experience in areas such as cultural knowledge and perspectives, legal and compliance, grant funding, fundraising and sponsorship and IT or cybersecurity.
Equally, we recognise the importance of lived experience, community knowledge and different ways of thinking.
Most importantly, we are looking for people who want to participate rather than simply hold a position, people who are curious, constructive and willing to help us build a strong and sustainable future for Intown Centre.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, we would love to hear from you and you are very welcome to have an informal conversation with us about what Board involvement looks like before deciding whether you would like to nominate.
You can send us a DM, or reach out to Chealsea Collins (Intown Secretary) via email: [email protected].
Please note that Board Nominations need to be submitted to Chealsea on or before the 22nd September 2026.
