The before-and-after photo pairs show pruning continued here today along the main bank, a little under-staffed and over-heated, so an early finish. This work shapes and rejuvenates the plants and, of course, promotes mass blooming for next year's open days' spectacle (May, July, September - first two weekends). Not as much to see for many months now, but always a delight for our volunteers.
This hyacinth orchid popped up for the first time near the Pam Robinson shelter. The flame tree stays many rungs ahead of the forest. Grevillea banksii white is flowering profusely down the steep bank facing east below the Sherbrooke Chapel.
I'm always apologetic to the birds and other pollinators, so much nectar source removed at their busy time. Still plenty remains for the Bogongs to fuel their migration for an Alpine summer! And not a worry for the Peewee chicks' busy parents with different diet. Some of the blooms are taken home; including yesterday to Tracee, knee recovering satisfactorily but not enjoying her captivity!
