The meeting was chaired by President Greg Morgan with twenty-three (23) members in attendance.

The meeting was advised that Peter Hurenkamp suffered an injury (hand) on Friday 3 July 2026, whilst using the jointer machine. It was revealed that Peter was wearing gloves at the time, and this was a contributing factor to the cause of the accident. (Wishing Peter a speedy recovery)

A lengthy discussion was held regarding "general safety" , with issues raised including:

# Ron Johnston advised that a committee meeting re: safety protocols, training systems, loose clothing, to be held as soon as possible,
# Training system to be revised and implemented,
# Inventory of machinery signage/safety to be undertaken,
# The purchase of tourniquets for inclusion in the first-aid inventory,
# A monthly video re: first-aid issues to be viewed by members,
# Importance of member awareness of "personal safety" at all times.

Also, the issue of dust control (sanding table location), personnel protection, dust masks, hearing & eye protection discussed at length.

Toolbox Tuesday 5 May 2026:

Twenty two (22) members attended.

Vice-President Peter Hurenkamp provided an update on the following issues:

* Upgrade of CNC Router machine nearing completion at a cost of $600,

* Construction of the pergola - the shed managed to access a grant of $6k, however, the cost of footings ($3k) are adversely impacting on the project. The committee are investigating additional quotes (footings) and the possibility of re-allocation of the grant funds.

Dave Pratt delivered a short presentation on the use of both shed defibrillator ( 1 in each shed). Also, the shed is applying for a grant to obtain a mannequin for 1st aid/defibrillator training. An AED training video was shown.

The next scheduled Bunnings BBQ requires helpers. All members encouraged to assist.

Table Saw Safety, in particular correct blade height, was emphasised, due to incorrect use by some members. Video to be shown at next Toolbox Tuesday meeting.

Many thanks to all shed memebers who assisted with the BBQ Lunch - very much appreciated.
