This tax time, you can help keep the HeartKids Helpline open. ☎️

For many parents, our Helpline is the first place they turn after receiving their child's heart condition diagnosis.

Our dedicated team are ready to answer these crucial calls, many with their own lived experience, offering insightful understanding, guidance and support when families need it most.

Your tax-deductible donation will help ensure families across Australia, including regional and remote communities, always have somewhere to turn after diagnosis, during treatment, and through every stage of the journey.

Our Helpline exists because no family should have to navigate this journey alone. Help us be there when it matters most. ❤️

National Reconciliation Week | 27 May - 3 June 2026

The theme for this year's NRW is All In for Reconciliation - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

HeartKids is committed to advocating and working in partnership to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our vision for reconciliation is grounded in deep respect, enduring partnerships and meaningful action — acknowledging past injustices, addressing ongoing inequities, and building a more compassionate, just and connected future.

HeartKids is proud to continue delivering our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan and our commitment to reconciliation. You can read more about our RAP here: https://www.heartkids.org.au/first-nations-people/rap/

Today, HeartKids acknowledges the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the ongoing impacts experienced by members of the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

National Sorry Day is a time to reflect, listen and commit to truth, healing and reconciliation. This year’s theme, From Sorry to Action, is a reminder that meaningful change requires more than words. Action is needed now.

HeartKids remains committed to advocating alongside communities and supporting a more equitable and culturally safe future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Next week The Kids Research Institute Australia are hosting a FREE webinar on Supporting Your Child at the Hospital. Learn about research on how hospitals can support and care for kids and families in safe and empowering ways and how parents can best support their children during hospital visits. Hear from a mum navigating complex touchpoints in the system and receiving outpatient care once they've left the hospital, from an OT and Coordinator at Keeping Kids in No Distress (KKIND) on how systems are changing thanks to parents' timeless self-advocacy.
The webinar is on Wednesday 27th May 2026 at 10:00am. To find out more and to register click here:

The webinar will be made available afterwards to people who register but are not able to attend.

Join us for a webinar on how parents and hospitals can support kids and families in safe and empowering ways.

This week is National volunteer week 🌟

During this week, we want to recognise and thank an essential part of our organisation- our incredible HeartKids volunteers! Your continuous dedication and generous support allows us to provide quality services to children, young people, and adults impacted by childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD). 💙

Over the past year, 256 volunteers across Australia have given their time and expertise to support our community. From supporting family events and national campaigns to packing and distributing care bags, donating professional skills, and providing administration and office support, your contributions make a meaningful difference.

We are so grateful for your valuable time and the impact you make. We couldn't do it without you! ❤️

Today, on International Nurses Day, we acknowledge the extraordinary nurses who stand beside children, young people and families impacted by childhood-onset heart disease every single day.

From the NICU and cardiac wards, to recovery rooms, outpatient clinics and regional communities, nurses provide far more than medical care. They provide reassurance during overwhelming moments, guidance through uncertainty, advocacy when families need a voice, and compassion that stays with people long after they leave hospital.

Many families in the HeartKids community will never forget the nurse who explained things gently, sat beside them during difficult moments, celebrated milestones, or simply made them feel less alone.

To every cardiac nurse, paediatric nurse, midwife, community nurse and healthcare professional making a difference behind the scenes and at the bedside, thank you for the vital role you play in the lives of so many families across Australia. ❤️
