Chairperson Benjamin (Ben) Dolby recognised as part of the Yawuru PBC Director Series 2026. His leadership and commitment to culture, community and caring for Country continue to make a strong impact. Keep up the great work, Ben. 🤎🌿

🌟 Yawuru PBC Director Series 2026 — Introducing Chairperson Benjamin (Ben) Dolby🌟

As part of our 2026 Yawuru PBC Director Series, we continue to recognise the dedicated leaders who help guide the Yawuru Corporate Group and represent the interests of the Yawuru community.

Chairperson Benjamin (Ben) Dolby has served on the Yawuru PBC Board since 2018, when he was first appointed as a director. He has since been reconfirmed by the community at subsequent AGMs, reflecting the strong confidence placed in his leadership. Ben was first appointed Chairperson of the Board in March 2021 and was reappointed to the role in December 2022 and has served as the Chairman for the last 5 years.

Ben is widely respected for his commitment to keeping Yawuru culture and values strong at the centre of governance and decision-making. His leadership reflects the importance of cultural authority and community responsibility, ensuring that Yawuru law, knowledge and traditions continue to guide the direction of the organisation.

Known for his warmth and genuine expression of mabu liyan (good spirit), Ben brings a calm and thoughtful presence to the Board. His leadership style is grounded in humility, transparency and fairness, and he is deeply committed to ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of the Yawuru community and future generations.

Ben also brings extensive experience in cultural heritage and land and sea management. Through his close connection and intimate understanding of Yawuru Country, ecosystems and biodiversity, he provides important cultural guidance on caring for land and sea. His knowledge of customary practices, including the right way of hunting and managing Country, strengthens the organisation’s commitment to protecting and sustaining Yawuru lands and waters.

Beyond his governance role, Ben contributes to cultural and environmental monitoring that helps ensure the protection of important heritage sites, cultural places and the natural environment across Yawuru Country. This reflects his deep respect for Country and his ongoing commitment to safeguarding Yawuru heritage for future generations.

Chairperson Ben Dolby’s leadership, cultural knowledge and dedication to community are to be highly commended. We thank him for his ongoing service and for the strong guidance he continues to provide to the Yawuru PBC and the broader Yawuru community.

Stay tuned as we continue to introduce the 2026 Yawuru PBC Board of Directors.

🌅 Our team recently came together on Country at Cygnet Bay for a full-day staff workshop focused on future planning, strengthening our shared understanding of our organisation and deepening our knowledge of the communities we work alongside.

🫶🏽 Spending the day on Country created space for meaningful conversations, reflection and learning. Being in such a special place was good for our liyarn (heart/feelings) reminding us of the importance of listening, connection and learning together.

💛 The workshop gave our team valuable time to share ideas, strengthen relationships and align our vision for the future. While one of our team members was unable to join us on the day, their contribution to our team and the work we do remains an important part of our journey.

🫂 We are grateful for the opportunity to come together in this way and look forward to carrying the knowledge, reflections, and shared commitment from this day forward in our work with communities.

🤩 Last week in Broome, the Kimberley Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Steering Committee Partnership Agreement was formally signed, marking a significant milestone in advancing Aboriginal-led decision-making and youth wellbeing across the Kimberley.

💪🏽 The Agreement strengthens coordination and long-term collaboration between Kimberley Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and State Government agencies, placing young people, families and communities at the centre of collective action.

💛 EC-West is proud to have been represented on the ARGG by our Chairperson, EC-West Director, Chief Strategy Officer, EYL Lead and EC National Director. This representation was instrumental in the establishment of Empowered Young Leaders Aboriginal Corporation (EYL), ensuring that young people’s voices are central to shaping solutions and driving meaningful change.

🫂 We look forward to contributing to the effective implementation of this important Partnership.
