Recently, on Meintangk Country in Naracoorte, we had one of our favourite days on the Limestone Coast Paddock Tree Project calendar: Depot Day.

36 landholders from across the region - from Sherwood in the north to Mingbool in the south - came to the Trans Australian Livestock and Freight Management yard to collect seedlings and guard materials for the planting season ahead.

It's a big logistical operation. Forklifts, manual loading, tying down, and a whole lot of smiling faces ready to get trees in the ground.

But more than anything, it's a reminder of what this project is really about - landholders who genuinely care about the future of their properties and the paddock trees that define them.

Once home, the real work begins. Planting. Guarding. Monitoring. Checking for livestock pressure, w**d competition and soil moisture. It's patient, ongoing work, and every single one of these landholders is committed to it.

And the reward? We're now starting to see paddock trees growing over the tops of their guards. Those young trees - protected, established, reaching for the sky - are exactly what this project has been working towards.

Each year we welcome new participants to the Paddock Tree Project journey, and each year the next generation of paddock trees in the Limestone Coast grows a little stronger.

A huge thank you to the team who made Depot Day possible - Robbie Andrew, Vanessa Freebairn and Kylie Pethybridge from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board, Stuart Gonda from Trees For Life, and the incredible team at Trans Australian Livestock and Freight Management who assisted all day with forklifting, loading and more. We couldn't do it without you ๐ŸŒฑ

Stay tuned for Expressions of Interest for the 2026/27 season - these will open once funding is confirmed.

This project is supported by the Limestone Coast Landscape Board with funding from the Regional Landscape Levy.

It all starts with seed ๐ŸŒฑ

A handful of native seed, carefully collected from South Australia's remnant bushland, holds more potential than it might appear.

Each one a future tree.

Future habitat.

A future home for wildlife that depends on healthy, connected landscapes to survive.

But seed is getting harder and harder to find.

Remnant vegetation is fragmented and under pressure.

Our Seedbank Manager Mitchell Livingston can drive for hours through the bush and come home empty-handed.

That's why Seeding Our Future appeal exists: to fund a new network of seed sites right across South Australia, giving our Seedbank the resilience it needs to keep restoring habitat for generations to come.

Every donation above $2 is tax-deductible and will support Mitchellโ€™s crucial work.

Please help restore our precious habitat ๐ŸŒฑ

Sometimes restoration starts with one fence line and a clear vision for what could grow back ๐ŸŒณ

At Williamstown in the Barossa, landholders Kate Cornelsen and Andrew Vredenburg decided to do something about a tired, over-grazed patch of Blue Gum grassy woodland on their property. With support from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board's Grassroots Grants program, they set about restoring and strengthening this precious ecosystem - one that was once widespread across South Australia but now exists only in fragments.

The project took a smart, staged approach - fencing out rabbits and controlling priority w**ds first, before bringing in the plants. Last month, more than 750 local-provenance native plants were planted across degraded areas, with the help of Trees For Life Bush For Life volunteers and community members.

What makes this project so special is the collaboration behind it. Private land, a TFL Bush For Life site, and Council-managed land - all working together to create a connected green corridor for wildlife and people alike.

It's a reminder that restoring landscapes doesn't require big budgets or big machinery. Sometimes it just takes two landholders, a grant, and a community willing to show up and plant.

A huge thank you to Kate and Andrew, the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board,
The Barossa Council, and every volunteer who rolled up their sleeves on the day ๐ŸŒฑ

The Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo. One of South Australia's most loved and most recognisable birds ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

And one of the species that depends on healthy, connected native habitat to survive.

Every seed planted is a promise to the wildlife that depends on it.

That belief sits at the heart of everything Trees For Life does - from our volunteer growers and bushcarers to our Seedbank team searching for precious native seed across the state.

This winter, we're asking for your help to secure that promise for the future.

The Seeding Our Future appeal helps fund the establishment of a new network of seed sites - ensuring our Seedbank has the diversity and resilience to keep restoring habitat, season after season.

Donate before 30 June and help give South Australia's wildlife a future ๐ŸŒฑ

Donations above $2 are tax-deductible.

This is something we know deeply at Trees For Life.

Restoration doesn't happen in a single day, a single planting, or a single season.

It happens because people keep showing up.

Year after year.

Through dry summers and wet winters.

Through the seasons that go well and the ones that don't.

It's a commitment. And it's one that thousands of volunteers, landholders, growers and supporters make together.

Seeding Our Future winter appeal exists because that commitment needs to be backed by something equally enduring: a secure, resilient supply of native seed.

Without seed, there is no restoration. And right now, seed is harder to find than ever.

Your donation before 30 June will help us establish new seed sites for South Australia, ensuring our Seedbank has the diversity and resilience to keep this work going, season after season, for generations to come.

All donations above $2 are tax-deductible ๐ŸŒฑ

Thirty-three million native plants. Since 1981. ๐ŸŒฟ

That's what happens when landholders and volunteer growers come together, season after season, year after year.

The Tree Scheme is one of our longest-running and most loved programs. It connects people who have land to restore with people who have the time and care to grow seedlings at home, and together, they're putting native plants back into South Australian landscapes one box at a time.

Swipe to see how it works ๐Ÿ‘‰

Orders are open from now until the end of August. Whether you're a landholder looking to restore your property, or someone keen to grow native seedlings at home - we'd love to have you involved.
