As part of Book Week, 5 wonderful volunteers from Home-Start's Kempsey/Macleay Community Readers program read to children at IGA Kempsey Central. 75 books were given to children, parents and grandparents with encouragement to read with children every day. Thanks to our fabulous volunteers and to IGA Kempsey Central.

Congratulations to our new Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Home Visiting volunteers who graduated from their Volunteer Preparation course this week. They will be soon matched with a family with little ones and will home visit every week to bring friendship, kindness and support. AusAlert emergency messages

Australia will soon test its new national warning system, AusAlert, on 27 July. Because the alerts will sound on mobile phone devices even when set to silent or 'do not disturb', people experiencing DFSV who rely on safety phones may need to plan ahead. If you need help to manage this, call 1800RESPECT where counsellors are available 24/7 to support people to consider their options and identify what feels safest for their needs.
