CAMBODIA CONTAINER – ON ITS WAY! ♿💜

Another exciting milestone for the Rotary SHARE Project Australia!

Our Cambodia container was collected from The SHARE Shed in Broadford on 25 August and is booked to depart Port Melbourne on 2 September, beginning its journey to Safe Haven Medical Outreach in Cambodia.

Packed inside are 88 specially designed wheelchairs for children with disabilities, generously supplied by Wheelchairs for Kids Australia, together with spare parts and other donated items.

This project is a wonderful example of what can happen when Rotary, community organisations and volunteers work together to connect much-needed resources with the people who need them most.

🙏 We still need financial help to cover the remaining cost of getting the container to its final destination in Cambodia. Every donation, large or small, will help make a difference.

🎉 GREAT NEWS – OUR PNG CONTAINER HAS ARRIVED IN GOROKA! 🇵🇬 YAY! 😀

After departing The SHARE Shed in Broadford on 7 July 2026, our container packed with much-needed medical and educational donations has safely arrived at its final destination in Goroka, Papua New Guinea, on 25 August 2026.

The container is now in place on land owned by the MOFA Foundation, where Director Nina Giheno, our in-country Project Manager, was there to welcome its arrival with great excitement. Once the container has been emptied, it will also be donated to the MOFA Foundation, giving it an ongoing purpose within the local community.

This achievement has only been possible through the generosity and hard work of so many people and organisations.

💜 A very special thank you to Rotary Club - Bright, who donated $5,000 to purchase the container, and Yea Rotary, who donated $5,000 towards the shipping costs.

Our sincere thanks also go to:

🚛 Roy and David from Mapai Transport for transporting the container from the docks to Goroka.

📦 Dr Rendi and Anna Moka for their enormous contribution in helping determine and select the items most needed in PNG.

💪 Capt. Vince Kapui for his brilliant container-loading skills and the incredible job of fitting everything safely inside.

🇵🇬 Linda Maree Koerner our SHARE Project PNG Coordinator, for all her work helping bring the many pieces of this project together.

📄 Frank Thompson from RARE Geelong for his invaluable assistance with the shipping documentation and paperwork.

🤝 Rotary Club of Boroko, who acted as the consignees for the shipment, and Rotary Club of Goroka, PNG, for their support on the ground.

And, of course, a huge thank you to the many Rotary clubs, hospitals, organisations, volunteers and supporters who donated goods, sorted, packed, transported and helped prepare this container for its journey.

From a shed in Broadford to Goroka in Papua New Guinea — this truly has been a team effort. 💜

We are incredibly proud to see these donated medical and educational items arriving where they can now be put to good use.

Thank you to Community Bank Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford and Rotary Club of Albert Park for paying for our wonderful new pallet racking. And what a difference it makes............and will continue to make to the donation capacity of our Shed. It will also help to keep our volunteers safe with more floor space to move around.

🌏 The SHARE Project Australia Working Bee – Saturday 25 July 2026

Another productive working bee was held at the SHARE Shed in Broadford, with 24 wonderful volunteers coming together to sort and prepare donated goods for communities overseas.

Our project teams achieved a great deal during the day:

🇵🇬 Papua New Guinea Team = The team sorted children’s and medical books, school supplies and toys. More work will be completed on Tuesday before the items are transported to the RAWCS RARE (Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment) Warehouse in Geelong, where they will be included in a container being shipped to Port Moresby. Most of these items are destined for communities in the Gulf Province.

🇫🇯 Fiji Team = The team sorted children’s books and other items that five of our volunteers will take with them on their upcoming Rotary trip to Fiji.

🇿🇼 Zimbabwe Team = Medical books were sorted and set aside for a future shipment to Zimbabwe. These will join the items collected from Wangaratta Hospital, with the shipment hopefully taking place early next year.

A very special thank you to President Clark Fletcher and Past District Governor Clive Walker for collecting and delivering a generous supply of donated items all the way from Wangaratta Hospital to the SHARE Shed.

Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm. Your contribution is helping valuable resources reach communities where they can make a genuine difference—while also preventing usable items from going to landfill.

Even more excitement on the cards this week: Thanks to a grant from Community Bank Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford, our SHARE Shed will be transforming and fitted with pallet racking.

Below are the 'before'photos - after a significant amount of donated goods filled 3 containers for PNG, Uganda, and Cambodia. We are all very excited to see the Shed fitted out and ready to take even more medical and educational donations for re-purposing. 😀
