From a container in Broadford… to communities, families and hospitals in Papua New Guinea. 🇵🇬💜

These wonderful photos show the next chapter in the journey of the goods sent to Goroka through The SHARE Project Australia.

On 10 September, the MOFA Foundation travelled from Goroka to Kerebabe in Henganofi District for a Peace and Reconciliation Program, taking with them boxes of clothing, backpacks, toys, blankets, pillows and other donated items.

Babies, children, young people, women and men all received something — gifts sent with care from friends in Australia. Among the donations was brand-new school clothing from Kilmore International School.

The photos capture so much more than the handing out of goods — children eagerly choosing a toy, community leaders coming together, families receiving much-needed items and the joy of knowing that what left Australia in a shipping container is now being put directly into the hands of people who can use it.

And the impact continues.

Goods from the container are also supporting hospitals, with an ultrasound machine delivered to Goroka Provincial Hospital and boxes of medical supplies collected for Kundiawa Hospital and Ialibu Hospital.

This is what the SHARE Project is all about — items being given a new purpose, partnerships crossing borders and practical help reaching communities where it can make a difference.

A huge thank you to MOFA Foundation and Nina Giheno and her team for getting these donations to the people and places they were intended to reach.

FROM BROADFORD TO GOROKA – AND NOW THE REAL WORK BEGINS!

What a wonderful story these photos tell. 💜

After travelling all the way from Broadford, Victoria, our SHARE Project container arrived safely in Goroka, Papua New Guinea, ready to begin the next stage of its journey.

The MOFA Foundation team opened the container on 31 August, however the PNG weather had other plans and rain prevented unloading. The following morning, the skies cleared and the team got to work.

Over two very busy days, box after box of donated goods was carefully unloaded, counted and recorded. A tent was erected to protect everything from the sun and rain, and the donations were progressively transported to the MOFA Foundation office in Goroka Town.

By the second day, the team could finally see the back wall of the container! 🙌

A huge thank you to Team MOFA Foundation and everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped, and to the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority, who generously assisted with a truck to transport the donations into town.

Despite the rain returning, the team kept going until 7pm to make sure everything was safely packed away.

And amongst all that hard work was one very special moment — a two-week-old baby boy visiting Goroka with his mum and grandmother received three soft toys and a little bag to take on his six-hour journey home to Enga Province. 💕

The work doesn’t stop here. Items from the container will now continue their journey to Goroka Provincial Hospital, Kundiawa Hospital and Ialibu Hospital, as well as supporting people and communities across the region.

The photos in the video capture much more than the unloading of a container. They show teamwork, partnerships, determination and the journey of donated goods from Australia into the hands of people who can put them to very good use.

CAMBODIA CONTAINER – ON ITS WAY! ♿💜

Another exciting milestone for the Rotary SHARE Project Australia!

Our Cambodia container was collected from The SHARE Shed in Broadford on 25 August and is booked to depart Port Melbourne on 2 September, beginning its journey to Safe Haven Medical Outreach in Cambodia.

Packed inside are 88 specially designed wheelchairs for children with disabilities, generously supplied by Wheelchairs for Kids Australia, together with spare parts and other donated items.

This project is a wonderful example of what can happen when Rotary, community organisations and volunteers work together to connect much-needed resources with the people who need them most.

🙏 We still need financial help to cover the remaining cost of getting the container to its final destination in Cambodia. Every donation, large or small, will help make a difference.

🎉 GREAT NEWS – OUR PNG CONTAINER HAS ARRIVED IN GOROKA! 🇵🇬 YAY! 😀

After departing The SHARE Shed in Broadford on 7 July 2026, our container packed with much-needed medical and educational donations has safely arrived at its final destination in Goroka, Papua New Guinea, on 25 August 2026.

The container is now in place on land owned by the MOFA Foundation, where Director Nina Giheno, our in-country Project Manager, was there to welcome its arrival with great excitement. Once the container has been emptied, it will also be donated to the MOFA Foundation, giving it an ongoing purpose within the local community.

This achievement has only been possible through the generosity and hard work of so many people and organisations.

💜 A very special thank you to Rotary Club - Bright, who donated $5,000 to purchase the container, and Yea Rotary, who donated $5,000 towards the shipping costs.

🚛 Roy and David from Mapai Transport for transporting the container from the docks to Goroka.

📦 Dr Rendi and Anna Moka for their enormous contribution in helping determine and select the items most needed in PNG.

Thank you to Community Bank Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford and Rotary Club of Albert Park for paying for our wonderful new pallet racking. And what a difference it makes............and will continue to make to the donation capacity of our Shed. It will also help to keep our volunteers safe with more floor space to move around.

Our project teams achieved a great deal during the day:

🇵🇬 Papua New Guinea Team = The team sorted children’s and medical books, school supplies and toys. More work will be completed on Tuesday before the items are transported to the RAWCS RARE (Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment) Warehouse in Geelong, where they will be included in a container being shipped to Port Moresby. Most of these items are destined for communities in the Gulf Province.

🇫🇯 Fiji Team = The team sorted children’s books and other items that five of our volunteers will take with them on their upcoming Rotary trip to Fiji.

🇿🇼 Zimbabwe Team = Medical books were sorted and set aside for a future shipment to Zimbabwe. These will join the items collected from Wangaratta Hospital, with the shipment hopefully taking place early next year.

A very special thank you to President Clark Fletcher and Past District Governor Clive Walker for collecting and delivering a generous supply of donated items all the way from Wangaratta Hospital to the SHARE Shed.

Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm. Your contribution is helping valuable resources reach communities where they can make a genuine difference—while also preventing usable items from going to landfill.

Even more excitement on the cards this week: Thanks to a grant from Community Bank Wallan, Kilmore and Broadford, our SHARE Shed will be transforming and fitted with pallet racking.

Below are the 'before'photos - after a significant amount of donated goods filled 3 containers for PNG, Uganda, and Cambodia. We are all very excited to see the Shed fitted out and ready to take even more medical and educational donations for re-purposing. 😀
