At the GACCQ Community Dinner we’re mixing good food, a relaxed atmosphere and a little speed socialising - just enough to get you talking to someone you might never otherwise meet!

Not networking....no awkward name tags and small talk... just a few quick introductions, a shared table, and then… who knows?
You might meet someone who has just arrived in Brisbane. Someone who has been part of the German-Australian for decades. Someone with a completely different story to yours. Or simply someone you end up talking to for the rest of the night because you clicked.

Come on your own. Bring a friend. Bring the family. You don’t need to be a member. The wider community is very welcome.

We’re trying something new during Brisbane German Week this year while bringing people together for a relaxed Community Dinner at the Brisbane German Club.

SPEED-SOCIALISING!

Come on your own, bring a friend, a colleague, your partner or the family. There’ll be German food and drinks, familiar faces and hopefully a few new ones too.

We’ll start with some relaxed mingling and a little speed-socialising, just three short conversations to help everyone meet someone they might not otherwise have spoken to. Then we’ll sit down for dinner and simply enjoy the evening together.

You don’t need to be a member to come along. Everyone is welcome!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, stepdads and father figures celebrating in Australia today! 💙

For our German-Australian community, it’s also one of those little reminders that some traditions travel with us, while others land on a different date altogether. 🇩🇪🇦🇺 In Germany, Vatertag is traditionally celebrated on Christi Himmelfahrt (Ascension Day), so our German dads have to wait a little longer...

However you’re spending the day, we hope it includes good company, something nice to eat and a little time together.

Two very different SSI initiatives, one important message: people should have the opportunity to participate, contribute and belong.

was pleased to be represented at the launch of SSI - Settlement Services International’s Women’s Employment and Skills Pathways ( ) program, supporting migrant to have their skills, qualifications and experience recognised, and at SSI’s World of Cultures Festival in Logan, celebrating the cultures, stories and communities that make what it is.

Initiatives like these matter. Whether it is removing barriers to employment or creating spaces where communities can come together and be seen, they strengthen participation and belonging across our wider multicultural community.

GACCQ wholeheartedly supports this work and the opportunities it creates for people to contribute their skills, culture and experience to Queensland.

Congratulations to and everyone involved in bringing both initiatives to life.
