🇩🇪 The German constitution, known as the Basic Law (Grundgesetz), is exactly 77 years old. It was formally adopted on May 23, 1949.

Originally designed as a provisional framework until Germany was reunified, it officially came into effect on May 24, 1949. When East and West Germany reunified in 1990, the Basic Law was retained as the permanent constitution for the entire country.

GACCQ continues its commitment to supporting German , and in , while building on the strong foundations laid by previous committees over the past 20 years.

A heartfelt thank you to Louise and Reimer Moeller for their many years of passionate dedication and contribution at the heart of GACCQ. We are delighted that Louise will continue her valued and community advocacy work with GACCQ, and grateful that Reimer will continue supporting the Committee with his extensive financial and audit experience.

Happy Vatertag to all the dads, grandfathers, stepdads and father figures in our community! 🇩🇪

Today we celebrate the men who guide, support, encourage and occasionally embarrass us with their jokes. Thank you for everything you do behind the scenes and beyond.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Vatertag filled with family, friendship and maybe even a Brezel and a cold German beer. Prost! 👔🥨🍺

On Sunday we joined communities and friends from various countries to in a candlelight vigil - as we have done every year since 2023. Politicians from all levels and parties, community leaders and religious leaders expressed ongoing support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
GACCQ - represented by Louise Moeller - have, along with the Honorary German Consul - Brisbane, and German Embassy Australia, been unwavering supporters of the Ukrainian people. We stand with the Ukrainians here in Queensland of Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc.,. The stories from their community are heart-breaking.

Since 2019, we have been a strong German community voice within the Logan City multicultural leaders' forum, and were thrilled to recently receive a Certificate of Appreciation for the involvement and work of GACCQ in 2025. Louise Moeller, our former President, has represented GACCQ since the inaugural forum and continues to highlight the role of our established communities, giving insights and being involved in all issues important to Logan's multicultural communities.
A huge thanks to SSI - Settlement Services International, Logan City Council and Multilink for these forums and all your work. Together we can create a better tomorrow for our wider community!
