On Saturday, 22 August 2026, we will come together at Gould Adams Park in Kingston to commemorate Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day.

This is a day to remember those whose lives were lost, honour the strength and resilience of survivors, and stand together in our continued call for justice, accountability and the protection of Rohingya rights.

We invite our community, friends, supporters and the wider public to join us in remembrance and solidarity.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of bringing together Rohingya community representatives from the Rohingya United Youth Network, Rohingya Community of Queensland Rohingya Community Queensland (RCQ), Burmese Rohingya Association in Queensland Australia (BRAQA), and the Australian Rohingya Council (ARC) to meet with Multicultural Australia and discuss the needs and aspirations of the Rohingya community.

We sincerely thank Multicultural Australia for their time, openness, and genuine commitment to listening, connecting, and supporting the community. This is just the beginning, with some exciting initiatives on the horizon.

At IWA Australia, we believe that successful settlement doesn't happen in isolation. It takes a strong network of community organisations, government, and service providers working together to create a supportive ecosystem where people can truly belong, thrive, and integrate into Australian society. Together, we are stronger.
