Avocados Australia

Avocados Australia Avocados Australia is the representative industry body for the Australian avocado industry. We are a not-for-profit membership based organisation.

Company Info
Avocados Australia is the peak industry body in Australia for avocados. Our members are Avocado growers throughout Australia as well as associated businesses and other industry stakeholders. Avocados Australia seeks to work with all parts of the supply chain from production through distribution and retail to the consumer. By working together we seek to continually improve the ability

of growers to provide a healthy, profitable and safe product for all consumers. As part of this continual improvement we manage a Research and Development Program and Marketing and Promotion Program for the Australian avocado industry. Avocados Australia Limited is governed by a Board of Directors which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation. The Board is comprised of elected grower-members representing each of the major production areas in Australia. The Board also has one standing skills based Committee โ€“ the Varieties Committee โ€“ that makes recommendations to the Board on issues related to importation of new varieties and the Nursery Accreditation scheme. Each grower-member of Avocados Australia is eligible to stand for election to the Board, has one vote to elect the Board, and also has the right to vote at general meetings. Avocados Australia maintains a Secretariat based in Brisbane, Queensland. The role of the Secretariat is to implement the directions of the Board and manage the day to day business of the organisation. It is also charged with ensuring that the ongoing interests of the members are represented in the many government and industry forums.

Australian fruits, local flavours, future chefs. ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ‘

At UOW Malaysia, 87 students and lecturers explored Australian avocados, table grapes and summerfruit through tasting and chef-led inspiration.

A standout moment was the masterclass, where Australian avocado was reimagined in Malaysian-inspired dishes.
It was a great reminder that Australian fruits can bring creativity, flavour and versatility to local recipes.

Funded by the ASEAN-Australia Centre, the project helps strengthen Australiaโ€“Southeast Asia connections through food, education and cultural exchange.

Thanks to UOW Malaysia, Chef Arieff, Chef Shahrir, Chef Annuar, and all students and lecturers who joined the session.

The Australian avocado industry has today launched a virtual reality (VR) supply chain training program, partnering with Woolworths on retail training components, to support consistent handling from orchard to retail shelf๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿฅฝ

Funded by Hort Innovation through the avocado research and development levy, with contributions from the Australian Government, the Australian Avocado Industry Virtual Reality Training Program (AV24010) uses VR scenarios to simulate real-world environments across the supply chain, from orchard through to retail in-store handling.

Accessible via VR headsets, mobile and tablet, the program provides a consistent, scalable way to upskill workers and embed best-practice handling at every stage, to deliver high quality and consistent Australian avocados. The program will be available from 1 July 2026 to growers, packhouses and each Woolworths store across Australia.

Our Australian Avocados food truck rolled back into Hong Kong this month, serving up delicious avocado smoothies and bringing the creamy goodness of Hass avos to some of the cityโ€™s busiest locations. ๐Ÿฅ‘

Even with rainy weather, the truck stayed highly visible and kept drawing a crowd.
Plenty of foot traffic, consumer engagement, and photo-worthy moments were helped along by a playful fluffy koala paw.

๐Ÿ“ Stops included Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Whampoa, helping us connect with consumers across key precincts in Hong Kong.

โœจ Highlights from the activation:
โ€ข 1,200 samples distributed
โ€ข 101,000+ foot traffic reached
โ€ข 165,000+ โ€˜out-of-homeโ€™ exposure interactions

How can avocado growers build more resilient orchards and improve fruit quality? ๐Ÿฅ‘

That was the driving question behind yesterdayโ€™s 2026 Central NSW Regional Avocado Forum in Port Macquarie.

Growers, presenters and industry stakeholders came together for a practical program that explored:

๐Ÿ“ฃ Latest updates on national production, market growth and export trends.

๐ŸŒณ The new avocado pest & disease project โ€“ an update on where itโ€™s up to and what it will deliver for growers.

๐Ÿชฐ Fly pollination research and the potential for alternative managed pollinators to support avocado production.

๐Ÿฅ‘ Fruit robustness with how the balance between calcium and nitrogen can influence fruit quality and improve resilience.

๐Ÿ“Š What data can help growers understand orchard performance, costs and profitability.

Grower discussions during the round robins created valuable opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and sharing practical insights from across the region.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion throughout the day, KMH Avocados for hosting the orchard walk at Cooperabung, and our presenters Jay Anderson, Raylea Rowbottom, Stuart Irvine-Brown and James Beveridge.

The forum was delivered as part of the Avocado Industry Development and Extension Project (AV23010).
