CAN YOU HELP US, MANLY?

We’re looking for friendly locals in Manly 4179 and surrounding areas to become Aged Care Volunteer Visitors.

There are older people in your local community who would genuinely love to have someone pop in for a cuppa, a chat and a bit of company.

You don’t need any special qualifications or aged care experience. You just need to be a good listener, enjoy a chat and have one hour a fortnight to spare.

☕ Have a coffee together
🌿 Sit outside and enjoy the sunshine
🎲 Play a game or do a puzzle
📖 Share stories and interests
💬 Or just sit and have a good old chat

We’ll match you one on one with an older person based on your personality, interests and availability, with the hope that over time you’ll become genuine friends.

Send us a message or apply today!

This gentleman in Redcliffe spent more than 30 years volunteering with Meals on Wheels, giving his time to support others in his community.

Now, it's his turn to receive that same kindness.

We're looking for a Volunteer Visitor to spend some time with him, sharing conversation, companionship and a friendly face. It's a small commitment that can make a world of difference. If you'd like to give back to someone who has given so much, we'd love to hear from you. Click the advert link below to apply, or email [email protected]

A quick heads up for older Australians and their families.

On Monday 27 July, Australia will be testing the new AusAlert emergency warning system. If you have a compatible mobile phone, tablet or smartwatch, you may receive a loud alert sound and a test message.

Don't be alarmed. It is only a test and you won't need to take any action or provide any personal or financial information.

If you're an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, this is a great opportunity to mention the upcoming test during your next visit. A quick conversation beforehand can help reassure an older person who may be anxious about technology or unfamiliar alerts.

HELP NEEDED IN KALLANGUR

We're looking for a caring female Volunteer Visitor to brighten the life of a socially isolated lady living in aged care in Kallangur. Please help us by sharing this post. Someone in your network could be exactly the friend she's waiting for!

She enjoys craft, sewing, reading, history, journalism, interior design, baking and going for a walk. More than anything, she'd love someone to visit every fortnight for a chat, a laugh and some friendly company.

She has a diagnosis of dementia and at times may struggle to find the right words, but a little patience, kindness and a listening ear can make all the difference.

Just one hour every fortnight could become the highlight of her week. If you have a warm heart and enjoy good conversation, we'd love to hear from you.
