Special Olympics Australia and NBL are bringing basketball excitement back to Perth for NBL HoopsFest January 2026.

Special Olympics athletes from across Australia will enjoy unforgettable experience in the showcase 3x3 basketball exhibition matches on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th January 2026.

If you love basketball, registered in Special Olympics Queensland and available to travel to Perth Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th January 2026; 2 ADULT female and 2 ADULT male basketball athletes and 1 volunteer basketball adult support person. All grades are welcome to apply by 5 pm Monday 24th November 2025.

New Inclusive Sport Academy course alert!

We’ve launched “Understanding the NDIS: Creating Inclusive Sporting Environments”, a first-of-its-kind online course to help coaches, parents and volunteers understand the vital role of community sport and equip them with the tools to support National Disability Insurance Scheme participants achieve their personal goals on and off the field.

Backyard to Big Bash - All Abilities, 24 Sep 2025 6 - 18 Years Old

This event is FREE.

Cricket activities will be delivered by Queensland Cricket accredited coaches. This program will utilise Brisbane Heat player facilities in the National Cricket Centre and Allan Border Field including: Indoor Cricket Nets, Player Lounge, Gym and Function Room. Parents are welcome to work from the Players’ Lounge, with plenty of desk space, modern kitchen facilities and lounge seating available. A coffee and breakfast wrap deal will be available at the Keeper's Cafe onsite.

Well done to all Golf Athletes especially those from Brisbane Club 👏 Thanks to Keperra Country Golf Club for their continued support of the Athletes 🏆

It was sunny skies and smiles all round at the Keperra Country Golf Club on Sunday (17 August) as 34 Special Olympics golfers, including World Games medallists, competed in a Special Olympics Queensland Inter-Club competition.

The athletes, plus 13 playing partners for those teeing off in the alternate shot format, came from Special Olympics clubs on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Moreton North, Ipswich/Lockyer Valley and Redlands, as well as the host Brisbane Club.

The Keperra course was in tip-top shape for the event, with the golfers cheered on by family, friends and locals.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship from the RACQ Stafford Office as part of its Local Giving Program, winners and placegetters across six divisions of the 9-hole and 18-hole competitions took home some great golf equipment prizes.

Among those victorious in their divisions were Amanda Patterson, a silver medallist at the Berlin Special Olympics World Games, and world bronze medallist and Keperra member Dylan Price.

The Special Olympics is a global sporting initiative for athletes with intellectual disability and/or autism, and the Keperra Country Golf Club is proud to be a Special Olympics Australia Affiliate and home for the Special Olympics Brisbane Club.

This morning Colin, Cerys & Gail did the Law Enforcement Torch Run QLD Polar Plunge to raise funds for the Special Olympics Brisbane Club as you may have seen on Channel 7 news and as shared by many.
