We are not anti-technology, but we ARE pro-memory-making, and we believe the best memories are made off the screen. Take some time this winter to disconnect from technology and reconnect with your kids – whatever that may look like for your family!

Research suggests that periods of unstructured time help children develop creativity, problem solving skills, and independent thinking.

Which means boredom might not be something to avoid.

It might be something worth protecting.

This winter, when you hear:

"I'm bored..."

Try not to hear a problem.

Try hearing the beginning of something.

Last week, we had the privilege of speaking with parents at West End State School about raising children in a digital world.

One of the most encouraging parts of the evening was seeing parents come together to learn, ask questions, and support one another.

Because healthy digital habits are not built in isolation.

They are built through conversations. Through communities.

Thank you to the West End State School community for hosting us.

Would you like to see a Screen Sanity Parent Night at your school? We would love to help your community start the conversation.

Across Australia, we are seeing more school communities take action around first smartphones, screen use, and healthy digital boundaries.

Real change rarely happens one family at a time. It happens when families, schools, and communities move together.

The Screen Sanity Parent Night Kit helps schools bring parents together for practical, hopeful conversations about raising children in a digital world.

Winter quietly changes screen habits.☃❄️
🔦More dark afternoons.
🛋More time inside.
📺More “just watch something for a bit.” or "just one more game".

And honestly? Sometimes that is okay.💖

But winter also has a way of slowly turning screens into the default for every quiet moment.

At Screen Sanity, we encourage families to ask: What is filling the space this season? Because the goal is not to remove every screen.

It is to make sure screens are not replacing:
➡ conversation
➡creativity
➡hobbies
➡board games
➡ rest
➡connection
➡real life moments

A healthy digital life is not built through perfection. It is built through small intentional choices over time.

Take charge of your family's digital health with the Screen Sanity Handbook.

It is harder to be a parent than ever before because it is harder to be a teenager than ever before.

But you do not have to navigate it alone.

Screen Sanity exists to help parents raise children in an increasingly digital world with more confidence, clarity, and support.

The Screen Sanity Handbook offers practical digital health principles to help your family create healthier rhythms around screens, devices, social media, gaming, and connection.

Take the first step toward more intentional digital health at home.

Is a stripped down iPhone the best option for a first phone?

It is one of the questions we hear most from parents trying to find the middle ground between not yet and here you go. A phone with no browser, no social media, and no internet can sound like the ideal compromise.

Safer, simpler, more controlled.

But does it actually work in practice? In our latest bog, we take a closer look at what a stripped down iPhone can do well, where it still falls short, and whether it is really the wisest first step.

AI is now built into many of the apps, games, and platforms children use every day.

From AI chatbots and deepfakes to AI-generated influencers and cyberbullying, many parents are trying to understand what these changes mean for their children’s safety, wellbeing, and development.

eSafety Commissioner is hosting a free webinar for parents.👀

This is an important conversation for families navigating the rapidly changing digital world.💖

At Screen Sanity, one of our core digital health principles is: Start with yourself.
Children are constantly learning what matters by watching the adults around them.

➡How we respond to notifications.
➡Whether we look up during conversations.
➡If devices sit at the dinner table.
➡How often we reach for our phones in quiet moments.

💖This is not about guilt or getting it perfect. It is simply a reminder that small shifts at home can have a powerful impact over time.
