What a night 🥂✨

Last weekend we were reminded what courage, persistence and, above all, a great community can do.

We attended the fourth RizeUp Australia & New Zealand fundraising gala, where more than 800 people came together and raised an extraordinary $620,000. That’s enough for RizeUp to fill 95 homes with beds, linen, furniture, appliances and all the practical things a family needs to begin again when navigating the impacts of domestic and family violence.

For us, it was also a reminder of just how many incredible people and organisations are working hard every day to support those survivors.

There is so much work still to be done, but seeing so many willing to get behind it gives you hope for what’s possible.

“I honestly don’t know how to put into words how grateful I am right now. Because of your incredible generosity, love, and support, together we raised $6,108 for the North Star Foundation, exceeding my original goal of $5,000!”

After crossing the finish line at the Noosa Marathon, Bodie speaks about the incredible support she received throughout her fundraising journey for North Star Foundation.

“Taking on this marathon was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It was relentless, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Every step of the way, I carried the support, encouragement, donations, messages, and belief from all of you with me, and honestly, that was part of what got me through.

Thank you to every single person who donated, shared my fundraiser, checked in on me, encouraged me, or simply believed in what I was doing. No contribution was too small, and every bit of support meant the world to me.

I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such kind, generous people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will never forget the love and support you showed me through this journey.”

This Saturday, Bodie will take on the Noosa Marathon after months of training, all while raising funds for North Star Foundation throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

What started as a fundraising goal of $5,000 has already been achieved before race day even begins. North Star Foundation is now sitting as the #6 top charity fundraiser for the event, with Bodie currently ranked the #4 top individual fundraiser!

Every dollar raised helps support our mission to create safe housing and long-term support for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Last night was incredibly special for us.

At the DVPC Candlelight Vigil, Olly Croy shared his story in front of a room full of community leaders, police, advocates, survivors, and families. For those of you who came to the gala, you might remember these emotions and just as it did in February, his speech didn't leave a dry eye in the room.

Olly spoke about how domestic violence once felt distant to him, something tragic that happened to other people, until it became part of his own family’s story. In these moments we see the conversation shifting from statistics and headlines to something deeply human. Something that is not only happening next door, but in our own families.

Events like these remind us why we raise the conversation. Behind every statistic is not just a person, a family, and a story that deserves to be heard with compassion and understanding, there's often a wider circle affected.

We are so proud of Olly, and so grateful to everyone who continues showing up to support survivors and help rebuild lives.

It’s hard to put this night into words.

People laughing, hugging, sharing stories. Moments that felt light and joyful - and others that reminded us exactly why this work matters so much.

There were speeches that made the room go quiet, a few tears, a lot of hope, and an incredible amount of generosity.

Thank you to everyone who came, supported, donated, and stood with us. Nights like this remind us that real change happens when people come together.

An unforgettable evening for an unforgettable cause.

Between the laughter, the dancing, the auctions, and the heartfelt speeches that left not a dry eye in the room - one thing was clear: this community cares.

We came together to raise awareness of domestic violence and to raise critical funds for safe housing and long-term support for women and children starting again.

And thanks to your generosity… the fundraising results exceeded expectations.
