Queensland Wattle Assoc promotes the celebration of wattles when wattles are blooming in Queensland - mostly late June to mid September each year. We provide talks about wattles, walks in botanical gardens, school tree plantings, tree plantings for 2032 Olympics and much more.

Wattle Bloom Walks at Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens. Walks are continuing through the flowering season before we celebrate National Wattle Day on 1st September. Wattle Bloom Walks at Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens. Walks are continuing through the flowering season before we celebrate National Wattle Day on 1st September. We were again blest with a warm winter's day, clear blue sky and early blooming wattles on Sunday, 19 July. A leisurely walk was led by our President, Mike Gilmour, with a rest stop halfway where he discussed the importance of wattles to the history of Queensland and Australia, other interesting facts and much more. An enjoyable discovery walk by all as evidenced by the attached video. Walks are continuing throughJuly/August, so don't miss out and book your walk through

Another exquisite intermingling of wattle and Sogetsu Ikebana art in a presentation by Akane Teshigahara, Headmaster of Sogetsu Ikebana in Tokyo.
A demonstration of how art crosses national boundaries to create links with people from both nations.
Ikebana art is practiced here in Brisbane by the members of Sogetsu Ikebana Queensland Inc. a Branch of Sogetsu Teachers’ Association in Japan. The branch recently held a display at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha.
