The Big Lit Quiz is coming up Sunday 23rd November. This is Book Links' end of year party for everyone involved in Kid Lit. Come help us celebrate, raise funds for the Australian Children's Laureate, have fun with a quiz, meet local authors, and take home a swag of books. I will need numbers for caterers by Monday 17th.

The September Write Links meeting is rushing up on us. Saturday 6 September. This will be a general meeting with Improv Games for Writers with Annaleise Byrd. You need to be a member of Book Links to attend, although you can attend one or two Write Links meetings before joining Book Links. Arrive early to get parking or use public transport as it is Riverfire that night. We will probably hang back for dinner after the meeting and watch the fireworks.

The August Write Links Workshop & meeting will be held at State Library of Qld, Meeting Room 1B on Saturday 2 August starting at 12:30pm.
This is a special workshop meeting and open to all. For this meeting we charge a fee to cover costs of the guest presenter. The cost for Book Links members is $5 and for non-members $20.
A Deep Dive in Writing Scenes – Scenes are the starting point for a great story because they are stories in a microcosm. If you can write a scene that works, you can write a story that works. In this Session, we’ll cover:
- What is a working scene with examples
- The key elements of working scenes, and
- How to plan your scenes.
Once you understand how scenes work and how to write them, you’ll be amazed by how much faster you’ll write.
Participants will be sent a link some pre-reading materials in the booking email.
