There are occasionally little moments in life that put a smile on your face and make your day. 😊

Often selfless acts of kindness to seafarers remind you of how fortunate we are as volunteers to assist people less fortunate. In my travels today I met Steve and Beryl at the Lerwick Seafarers Centre (Shetland Islands) who welcomed me into their centre while they prepared for seafarers from the cruise vessel Viking Jupiter.

This was a random encounter and one that those of us who volunteer selflessly, cherish when meeting like minded people providing services to seafarers on the opposite side of the world. 🤗

Volunteering for your cause delivers untold benefits to you and those you serve. Thank you Steve and Beryl for making my day and the day of seafarers from Viking Jupiter 😌

With 50 attendees, great conversation, and a morning tea organised by Jenni and Joey, it was a fantastic opportunity to share the Mission’s story.

Mission to Seafarers Brisbane Inc gathered at St John's Cathedral for the Annual Seafarers Day Service on Sunday. A moment of reflection and gratitude for the men and women who keep our global economy moving, often far from home and unseen.

We were honoured to be included in the ceremony proceedings on behalf of Mission to Seafarers Brisbane Inc, alongside Master Mariners and our chaplain, Ian. 🌊⚓

If you haven't had the chance to attend a Seafarers Day Service, we'd encourage you to join us next year. It's a powerful reminder of the human stories behind every ship that enters our port. 🫶

On Merchant Navy Day, we honour the courage, dedication and sacrifice of merchant seafarers; past and present.

Every day, merchant seafarers work behind the scenes to keep our communities supplied with the food, fuel, medicines and everyday goods we rely on. Many spend months away from home, facing challenging conditions to keep global trade moving.

Today we also remember those who lost their lives in service, recognising their contribution to our nation and the world.

We are proud to stand alongside seafarers, offering practical support, friendship and a warm welcome in ports across the country.

Please join us in thanking and remembering the men and women of the Merchant Navy.

🌟 Supporting Those Who Keep Global Trade Moving 🌟
AAL Shipping's global Amazing Race is held every two years, bringing teams together across the world to support worthy causes and make a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Following the success of the 2023 Amazing Race, funds raised were generously donated to the Mission to Seafarers Brisbane, contributing towards the purchase of the Mission's shuttle bus in 2024.

For Amazing Race 2025 – Walk for a Cause, AAL Brisbane once again selected Mission to Seafarers Brisbane as its nominated charity. Through an incredible team effort to increase and track their daily steps, the Brisbane team proudly raised AUD $10,694.00 to support the welfare and wellbeing of seafarers. 👏

As a shipping line, AAL is proud to continue supporting the valuable work undertaken by the Mission to Seafarers, providing care, assistance, and a welcoming community for visiting seafarers and the wider maritime industry.

On behalf of the Mission to Seafarers Brisbane, we extend our sincere thanks to the entire AAL Brisbane team for their generosity and commitment. These funds will make a meaningful difference in supporting our ongoing services, particularly the operation and maintenance of our vehicles, which provide essential transportation for seafarers throughout the Port of Brisbane.

Ekka show day here in Brisbane but ships continue to operate as we do.

Enjoying the seafarers centre today are seafarers from World Swan 2, currently loading wood chips for export to Japan, One Santiago loading/discharging containers before departing for China and MV BBC Rosario, loading an interesting cargo of fertiliser and soil for Kiribati.

Never a dull moment in a port but quality down time for these global “key workers”
