Ekka show day here in Brisbane but ships continue to operate as we do.

Enjoying the seafarers centre today are seafarers from World Swan 2, currently loading wood chips for export to Japan, One Santiago loading/discharging containers before departing for China and MV BBC Rosario, loading an interesting cargo of fertiliser and soil for Kiribati.

Never a dull moment in a port but quality down time for these global “key workers”

We had a great meeting with Councillor Alex Givney this week. Her knowledge of our local community and the connections we can further develop have inspired us to lift another gear. We're very grateful for Alex's support and guidance that will hopefully promote our cause and how the community can assist. Thank you Councillor Alex Givney

⚓ It was a pleasure to catch up with Ross and Catherine Hindley, President of Mission to Seafarers Brisbane, to learn more about the incredible work they do supporting the thousands of seafarers who visit the Port of Brisbane each year.

For more than 134 years, Mission to Seafarers has provided care, friendship and practical support to seafarers who are often far from home and their loved ones. One of the ways they do this is by providing free transport into Wynnum, giving crews the opportunity to shop, enjoy a meal and experience the hospitality of our wonderful community. 💙

It was great to discuss ways we can help more people learn about the important role Mission to Seafarers plays, not only in supporting those working at sea, but also the positive contribution seafarers make to our local businesses and community.

And if you enjoy a fun night out, keep an eye out for their upcoming Trivia Night on Friday 19 September. It's a great way to support this remarkable organisation while enjoying an evening with friends. 🧠🎉⚓

When you only get a few short hours each fortnight to relax and take time out from your work environment, it’s the simple things we can provide to enable this.

A short bus ride from the ship, free access to internet, a shop, a bar and a comfortable quiet place to chill and zone out.

It’s the least we can provide for these seafarers from container vessel Scion Mafalda.

Seafarers from crude oil tanker MT CSK Valiant welcomed some downtime and frivolous games at the seafarers centre.

A twenty four our discharge before sailing again leaves them little time to relax and enjoy some time away from work.

The laughter was infectious 🥰
