It’s moments like these we need to share.

This seafarer meets his new nephew and his sister and BIL for the first time in 3 years while his ship was in Brisbane for 3 days. 😍

We were so happy to be able to facilitate this for them.

Seafarers are humans and have families, sometimes scattered around the world.

Seafarers remain among the yet least visible workers in the world. Behind every shipment, every stocked shelf, and many of the goods we rely on each day are people at sea whose work keeps life moving.

This reflection is a timely reminder that the global supply chain is not only about cargo and vessels, but also about the people who serve on board them.

Is this a new opportunity for young people to learn more about the shipping industry and the role it plays in our country?πŸ€”

Jamie, a school aged student now volunteering at the seafarers centre as a part of his education has taken the first step. 🚢

Thanks to Deb, his supervisor from QLD pathways, we can now provide opportunities for students to learn, grow and provide support to our national and international visiting seafarers. πŸ’ͺ

These seafarers from MV Daiwan Hero currently loading grain have taken some time to chill out at the Brisbane Seafarers Centre.

A few games of pool, some friendly banter and a quick β€œshop” at our second hand clothing store made for a few enjoyable hours away from work.

Sailing soon with next stop discharging grain in Vietnam.

Safe sailing

Seafarers have birthdays too and generally it’s spent with your shipmates, not your family.

Today, James, an oiler from the container vessel MV Aries, spent his 40th birthday with his shipmates at the seafarers centre.

While it mightn’t be much, a game of pool, a nice cup of coffee and a packet of Tim Tams was more than enough to make this seafarer happy on his birthday 🎁
