QEII junior doctors Punkaja Amarasekera (left), Jackson Scullion (right), and Matthew Ho have all aced their Orthopaedics Term One Assessments, bringing home straight 5s! πŸ…

Senior Medical Education Officer Susan Leahy said the trio were rated on their capability across four domains: Clinical Practice, Professionalism and Leadership, Health and Society, and Science and Scholarship, with all achieving top marks in line with the National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training standards.

β€œOur junior doctors all consistently exceeded expectations," Susan said.

β€œThe Medical Education Team is very proud of Matthew, Punkaja and Jackson’s hard work and success." 🌟

The three commenced at QEII as interns last year and are now completing their training as Junior House Officers at the hospital.

Their next academic mission will involve swatting up for their upcoming rotations across the hospital. 🩺

Congratulations Punkaja, Jackson and Matthew! πŸ‘

One of the most impactful ways you can thank the amazing healthcare professionals of QEII Jubilee Hospital for your care or the care of someone you love is by becoming one of our beloved fundraisers.

Welcome to our Hospital Community!

20 new medical interns joined the QEII Hospital ranks this month, where they’ll get hands-on experience in a range of specialties over the next year. 🩺

Their arrival marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the growing hospital, as Metro South Health makes way for more than 160 interns across its services in 2026. πŸ₯

Among them is Geraldine (front, second from right), who made her medical journey all the way from South America and looks forward to finding her rhythm at QEII.

β€œSurgical training has always been at the fore of my mind, but I'm keen to try everything. I want to do lots of different rotations and keep an open mind to all of them,” she said.

Therapy dogs Bert and Rene were also onsite to offer a paw-sitive welcome to the group.

Best wishes to all our new interns as they embark on their careers at QEII! ✨

Legends, putting smiles on faces each and every day!

With 10 instruments between them and a remarkable combined age of 399 years, QEII Hospital's beloved volunteer singers, The Troupe, packs heart and soul into every performance. πŸŽΆπŸ’—

For eight years and counting, The Troupe have delighted QEII's patients, visitors and staff with their harmonious melodies, sparking joy and comfort everywhere they go. ✨

"We have the best job in the hospital, because we go home smiling every day," said lead singer, Willie.

"It’s a joy to play our music to all the patients, doctors, nurses and staff, and we always have a great time. We are happy when we see people smiling and their moods are lifted.”

Their passion for lifting spirits has earned them a spot on the shortlist for the 2025 Metro South Health Volunteer Award. πŸ†

Congratulations Willie, Cesare, Willie, Harry and Rose!

Christmas has come early at QEII Hospital this year, where patients at Ward 4B received a sweet surprise. 🎁

This month, past patient and local school Deputy Principal, Naveen, returned to the ward with a heart full of gratitude and arms full of festive surprises. πŸ’

After her own health journey in 4B earlier this year, Naveen was inspired to give back, bringing vibrant bouquets and handwritten Christmas cards lovingly created by her students.

β€œHearing the diverse perspectives of individuals on their unique journeys was enlightening. I hope these interactions and gestures have helped the patients build resilience and confidence during their most troublesome times," she said.

Nurse Unit Manager Ward 4B, Kelly Rose said the gift was a source of comfort and joy to those spending the festive season in hospital.

A huge shout-out to Naveen, her students, and the incredible 4B team for showing what true patient-centred care and community spirit look like this Christmas season. πŸŽ„βœ¨
