Two weeks on from CONVERGE 2026 and we’re looking back at this photo and feeling pretty proud of what we shared together on Gimuy Country, Cairns.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, shared a yarn, got involved and helped make CONVERGE such a special few days. We loved bringing everyone together to connect, share, learn and celebrate our sector.

And a special thank you again to the team at Bumma Bippera Media (BBM) for co-hosting CONVERGE with us and welcoming us to Gimuy Country.

🏆✨ What a night at the First Nations Media Awards!

Held as part of CONVERGE 2026 on Gimuy Country, the Awards were a wonderful celebration of the people, organisations, stories and work that make our First Nations media sector so strong.

We were honoured to begin the evening with a Welcome to Country from Uncle Peter Hyde, followed by a beautiful performance by the Gerub S*k, Murray Island Dance Group from the Torres Strait who helped get the night off to a special start.

We also took a moment to acknowledge the trailblazers who paved the way for the next generation coming through.

🔥 What a couple of days at CONVERGE 2026!

The last couple of days have been packed with yarns, learning, sharing and plenty of connection as First Nations media from across the country have come together in Gimuy Country, Cairns.

We’ve heard from some deadly speakers, taken part in workshops and panels, shared what’s happening across our sector and, most importantly, had plenty of time to connect, yarn and learn from each other.

From digital inclusion and the final First Nations Digital Inclusion Forum, through to our CONVERGE sessions yesterday and today, there’s been some great conversations about where our sector is at and where we’re heading next.

And tonight, we get to celebrate! 🏆🔥

We’re looking forward to the First Nations Media Awards, celebrating the incredible work, creativity and achievements of First Nations media and the deadly people behind it.

🎙️🔥 Day 1 of CONVERGE 2026 is a wrap!

What a way to kick things off.

Today we held the third and final First Nations Digital Inclusion Forum, bringing together First Nations media, government, telcos and others to yarn about digital inclusion and what’s needed for our communities.

We heard from government and industry, shared case presentations and got into some great breakout discussions around digital access, affordability and ability.

It’s been deadly to see these conversations grow over the three Forums, delivered in partnership with NIAA, and to hear directly from our mob about their experiences, challenges and ideas.

While this is the final Forum in the series, the yarn doesn’t stop here. There’s still plenty to talk about and plenty of work to do.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us today and shared their knowledge, stories and ideas. ❤️‍🔥
