Love this! Wynnum Community Place did the work to find out the best ways to support our homeless community so that you don't have to.

Wynnum, last night we asked you to let us know about the specials that could make a genuine difference to someone doing it tough - and you came through in a big way! 💚

Check out some of these finds:

☀️ Solar power bank; $20 from Kmart Australia.
Perfect for someone in our local community sleeping rough, who needs to keep their decided charged and connected.

🥤 Up&Go; $3.75 for a multipack from Woolworths.
Easy, portable nutrition when you don’t have a kitchen, fridge or somewhere to prepare a meal. A favorite throughout our homeless community!

🪑 Camping chair; just $6 each from Bunnings Manly West.
A simple bit of comfort (actually - SURPRISINGLY comfortable for the price) and dignity for someone sleeping rough.

☕ Large Billy/tea pot; only 12 from BCF - Boating, Camping, Fishing Tingalpa
Something practical for preparing hot drinks or food when you’re living with very limited facilities.

These might look like everyday bargains, but for someone sleeping rough or experiencing hardship, they can be incredibly valuable.

So keep those bargains coming! If you spot something you think could be useful to someone doing it tough, tell us about it. And if you grab a few extras while they’re on special, you can drop them into Wynnum Community Place during opening hours, or into our donation box at Wynnum Plaza.

Your small bargain is worth so much more to someone who has very little. 💚

Happy Census Day! 📝 The last Australian Census was in 2021, when half of Australia was in lockdown, everyone was listening to The Kid Laroi, and the average rent was $500.

So much has changed since then.

Census data influences real life decisions and that's why it's so important to get it right.

This time last year, the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club gave us our first ever grant. As a just-registered charity, it was so exciting to have a community champion like the Leaguesy backing us.

We were back again this week and we had a great time at the presentation ceremony chatting with friends old and new - our patron Joan Pease MP, our mission partners Lauren and Steph from Wynnum Community Place, and the Wynnum Manly Murri’s Sporting Club Football Team, who got their first WMLC grant this year.

The Leagues Club has reinvested millions of dollars back into the community through their grants program. So next time you get a meal or attend an event, you can be proud to know that you're supporting housing charities, neighbourhood centres, indigenous football, and so much more.
