Why support us?

60% of Australians reliant on income support are women.

Three in four people who used housing services in 2023 were women or children.

And a 2024 study by Anglicare found that less than 1% of rentals were affordable for people working minimum wage jobs or receiving a pension (https://www.anglicare.asn.au/publications/2024-rental-affordability-snapshot/).

We're working hard to turn that all around. Please consider supporting us this Anti-Poverty Week.

Anti-Poverty Week starts tomorrow.

It feels especially important in 2026. Between the housing crisis and the cost of living crisis, everything feels harder now.

Single, childfree women are often hit especially hard. Existing support services prioritise families and women with further needs and that's a good thing! But it means that when financially vulnerable women face crisis, they don't have much of a safety net beneath them.

Bayide Shelter Inc officially opened our doors this week and while it's an exciting time, it's also terrifying! Our model excludes us from government funding so right now, we're 100% privately funded. Our work only happens if our community backs it.

We're offering a few different ways to support us this Anti Poverty Week:

🪙 Make a donation through our website 👉 https://apwfr.raiselysite.com/
🎟️ Enter our raffle to win a prize pack (thanks to Councillor Lucy Collier Joan Pease MP and Kara Cook MP) 👉go.rallyup.com/apw26
🧺 Visit us at the Manly Markets on Sunday, 18 October and donate $20 or more to receive an exclusive merchandise pack.
