An incredible few days with amazing presenters, great energy, and plenty of inspiration all around. Best of all, it’s fantastic to see how Riding for the Disabled continues to make such a positive impact in the community.

We’ll definitely be back again next year! 🙌

The workshop at Tallebudgera Valley Riding for the Disabled is an inspiring gathering, bringing together passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the valley, the day focuses on connection, learning, and sharing best practice across the RDA network. Volunteers and participants come together with a shared purpose — to strengthen the impact of equine-assisted programs for people of all abilities.

The workshop offers valuable insights into coaching, horse welfare, and participant engagement, while encouraging the exchange of ideas in a supportive environment.

What stands out most is the sense of community. The dedication of volunteers is evident in every interaction, reflecting the true spirit of inclusion.

The Tallebudgera Valley workshop is a reminder of the powerful role RDA plays in changing lives, one ride at a time.

At the start of 2026 when all our Queensland centres are getting ready to commence their RDA programs here is a short film from Samford Riding for the Disabled explaining, quite simply, why we do what we do.

A very important part of our horses welfare is to give them stimulation and schooling from able bodied riders.
It is also part of our horse welfare policy.

We need help.

Are you available on a Thursday morning for a couple of hours?

Are you a competent horse rider who can walk, trot (both sitting and rising), canter, pick up the correct lead at canter and generally give the horse the correct cues when asking him to perform a basic manoeuvre?
Our horses are amazing with our disabled riders but also need the exercise and mental stimulation of being riding by abled bodied riders. We are not providing lessons but are looking for people to join us on as Thursday morning to provide them with this under the supervision of one of our Coaches.
Please contact us via Facebook, phoning on 0478 028 379 or coming out to see us if you are able to help.

Wowsa!
Well done Samford Riding for the Disabled what an awesome outcome.
Congratulations 🙌 🥳

Ummm, Christmas came today.! Squeeee!
It's kind of a big deal too! We have just been informed that we were successful in our submission to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Queensland for funds to completely rebuild our mounting yard surface with a stabilising interlocking matrix, to build a brand new disability mounting ramp that adheres to the latest disability access standards, to add extra stalls next to the arena and reposition some gates, tie up rails and fencing at our arena access points. This dramatically improves disability access, safety, stability and usability for all participants and volunteers alike. Programs and grants like this help us continue to offer and develop best practice disability access for life affirming activity, exercise, sport, health and welfare with dignity. Thank you to Councillor Cath Tonks and Nikki Boyd MP for their submission support letters. Thank you Lynn (Secretary) for drafting the submission. Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters. MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Today is INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY!
Today a volunteer mowed the grass around the arena and cleared weeds. He made the place look nice for our participant party tomorrow. Our volunteers fix fences, clean water troughs, walk horses, groom and feed. They walk next to and support the most vulnerable and beautiful people in our community. When they run out of steam, they find a little extra and keep moving forward because they know, they get it, they understand the mission. Our Samford RDA volunteers are priceless. We have depended on them since 2007 and in fact, we are them. It's the culture of Samford RDA that is built on volunteers, it's run by volunteers. Our volunteers are the life blood of Samford RDA. To all you amazing people, you wonderful dreamers, the precious souls and kind hearts, THANK YOU.

On the International Day of People with Disabilities, Riding for the Disabled Queensland celebrates the transformative power of inclusive horsemanship.
Through riding, people with disabilities abilities discover confidence, strength, and a deep sense of connection with their horses.
Our programs support physical development and emotional wellbeing, while fostering a welcoming community where every rider is respected and encouraged. Today, we acknowledge the riders, volunteers, coaches, and horses who make this meaningful work possible—and we reaffirm our commitment to providing opportunities that allow everyone to experience the freedom, joy, and empowerment that riding can offer.
