I’ve always had a heart for charities and that manifested in different ways throughout my life. Whether it’s living in Africa, working with youth and woman ministries, serving in the church. It’s looked different. Being a grandmother and in a difficult season, I wondered what it would look like now.

Surprisingly today, it’s a van, a vision, and a journey with purpose.

I’m setting off to meet incredible grassroots charities across Australia, proving that you’re never too old to start something new, chase a dream, or make a difference.

The road ahead is uncertain, but some dreams are too important to leave waiting.

Recorded on what is known as Mabo Day. The 3rd of June marks the day that Eddie Mabo (who was a Torres Strait Islander man) challenged the claim that his family’s traditional land was owned by the Crown. The High Court overturned that claim.

The decision also overturned the colonial concept of terra nullius, Latin for ‘nobody’s land’. At the time of European settlement of Australia, terra nullius was used to justify the British Crown’s claim on the land - as though it was previously unoccupied territory.

This is because they didn’t classify Aboriginal people as people but as fauna and flora. This was only overturned in 1992.

A BEAUTIFUL THING

Everything about our launch dinner was intentional . From the international menu that was created by the people indigenous to that culture, the message was about how production and delivery is best made by the people who are from that community.

The opening by and the Ah Chong sisters was an honouring of our founder’s grandparents who built bridges between the church and the community.

Inviting along was indicative of the need for systems change and how Members of Parliament have the power to influence that change.

bringing a powerful song as an indigenous young man sent the message that we are all human and we all need to take responsibility to restore what has been lost over generations.

And our beautiful panel were representing the categories that we will work with through our App. From homelessness to domestic violence support, to criminal justice reform to water poverty in developing countries to youth su***de prevention and mental health. A big thank you to:
