We had a great working bee with a small but mighty crew working where we previously have at The Gantry day-use area.

The team made great progress clearing Lantana and four +2m Camphor Laurels. It was also great to look back at areas where we have previously worked this year, already sprouting up with new natives now the Lantana is gone!

We hope to see you at our final working bee for the year in November, on Saturday 14th, 8am at The Gantry.

A Wednesday ranger day kicks off the week, then Saturday goes big with three working bees, a beginner birdwatching walk and an after-dark spotlighting survey, before Sunday wraps up at Nerang.

Spend the morning with Daisy Hill Natural Area Volunteers caring for Daisy Hill Conservation Park's bushland and koala habitat. Help remove invasive species. Beginners and experienced volunteers are equally welcome.

Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park

Help protect the wild koalas, wallabies and rare plant species of David Fleay Conservation Park with Friends of David Fleay Conservation Park. Volunteers assist with invasive species removal while connecting with the local conservation community along Tallebudgera Creek. Park at the David Fleay Wildlife Park carpark.

Friends of Broadwater State Forest

Ever wondered what that bird in the bush is? Join Granite Belt Sustainable Action Network GBSAN's Friends of Broadwater and BirdLife Southern Queensland for a guided introduction to birdwatching in Broadwater State Forest, meeting at the Sims Lane entrance. No experience needed, and binoculars are handy but not essential.

Sheep Station Creek Spotlighting Survey
🌿SATURDAY, 10th October | 7:00pm to 10:00pm
Greater glider joeys are venturing out on mum's back, and your sharp eyes could help spot them on this guided after-dark survey with Friends of Sheep Station Creek Conservation Park, meeting at the Williamson Road entrance. Spaces are limited to 15, so book early. Bring a torch (red light preferred).

Friends of Nerang National Park

Help restore habitat at Nerang National Park with Friends of Nerang National Park by removing invasive w**ds that put more than a dozen threatened species at risk, meeting at the end of Lawnhill Drive. A relaxed, welcoming monthly session suited to beginners and experienced volunteers alike.

Did you know D’Aguilar National Park undergoes regular planned burns as part of QPWS’s ecological and wildfire management? 🔥

Planned burns aren’t like bushfires — they’re slow, low‑intensity ‘cool’ burns that keep fuel loads down and support the health of the forest. Hakea species, like many others found within the montane heath in the park, are designed to need heat and smoke to open their seed pods. Other locals like grasstrees (Xanthorrhoea) have a protective shield around their trunk comprised of old leaf husk to protect it from fire, and eucalypts resprout after fire thanks to their hardy lignotubers.

Fire is a natural part of the Australian landscape and, when managed well, can have a positive impact on the health of the bush.

🎉 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 Friends of D'Aguilar National Park!

One year ago a small crew of volunteers rolled up there sleeves in D’Aguilar National Park, and what a year they’ve had. Under the leadership of the fantastic Kalebh, the group has gone from strength to strength, becoming some of the best lantana-busters around. Luckily there’s no shortage of lantana for them to tackle!

Beyond their w**d wars, the team has leant a hand to our Potoroo Protectors Project, helping set and retrieve cameras to track the park’s vulnerable long-nosed potoroo population. More recently, the team has turned its attention to habitat improvement for the threatened brush-tailed rock-wallaby, clearing w**ds (more lantana!) from the rocky escarpments these wallabies call home.

A huge congratulations to the whole Friends of D’Aguilar team on one year, and an even bigger thank you for everything you do to keep this beautiful park healthy for the wildlife that calls it home. Here’s to many more years of lantana-clearing, camera checking, and wallaby-helping work.

We had a great 1-year celebration on Saturday, returning to The Gantry where it all started! 🌳

We made great progress, continuing our work clearing Lantana around the day-use area. Thanks to all who came along and have supported us throughout our journey so far! 🎉

We hope to see you all next month on Saturday 10th October!

Celebrating 1 whole year in the park! 🎉

This weekend's working bee marks our 1st birthday! Come along and celebrate with us this Saturday, 12th of September from 8 - 11am, working where at all started up at The Gantry Day-use area.

We'll be continuing our w**ding work around the day-use area. Morning tea provided, so let us know if you can make it!

Spring has sprung at D'Aguilar National Park! 💐

Come checkout the wildflowers and montane heath up in the Mt Mee section of the park! The warm winter has meant flowering is more spread out so there will be plenty to see for the next couple months.

Best enjoyed when walking the Somerset Trail, come and see a beautiful array of wildflowers amongst the heathland and scribbly gum forest.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of teaming up with Friends of Parks Queensland up at Mt Archer, setting 22 fauna monitors for the threatened Long-nosed Potoroo!

D'Aguilar is proving to be a great refuge for these little fellas, and work like this helps us track their numbers and identify pests in the area that threaten them.

In the coming weeks, we'll look to collect these cameras, so keep an eye out for event details!

Shout out to our buddies Friends of the Cedars working in the south west of the park! Andrew is passionate about conserving his local area and is launching this new group this Sunday for their first working bee! 🎉

They will hold their regular working bees on the last Saturday of each month so there won't be any conflict between our monthly meetings.
