We’re shouting out another of our wonderful counsellors - Tina Myrteza! 🙌

Tina’s background in education gives her a unique insight into the challenges we all face during life upheavals. Her focus on solutions provides a structure that allows clients to feel confident and empowered in their recovery.

We’re so grateful to have Tina on the team, providing support to those who need it most.

Sometimes, the biggest challenges are the ones you don’t see.

Starting a charity is never easy, and there are countless hoops to jump through and red tape to overcome.

Throughout it all, the guidance and support of the community has been what keeps us going, as well as knowing that what we do changes lives across the country.

In Australia, the most dangerous time for natural disasters is during the summer. ☀️

But, as we know, the trauma and pain that these disasters bring lasts for many months, and years.

At NDRO, our counsellors work with those affected by natural disasters for as long as they need, giving them the space and time to process the huge changes in their life.

Tim tells us one of his favourites, where support from the NDRO made all the difference in dealing with endless red tape after disaster.

The most recent federal budget brought welcome extra funding to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), with an extra $6 million targeted at improving high-speed mobile broadband for emergency response.

Extra funding will also be allocated to the national aerial firefighting fleet, who are invaluable in our hot summers.

We welcome these coming improvements, and hope they will make a measurable impact on the ground.

At NDRO, we work with incredible counsellors, who help disaster victims process the trauma that comes with their experiences.

Dr Jo Stephens is both a registered counsellor and paramedic, with over 30 years of healthcare experience in a range of roles. She brings a strong passion for supporting those in regional and remote communities - often those most affected by natural disasters.

Her expertise is greatly appreciated, and we thank her for all the work she does in our community!
