Former Judge Navin Pillay wins the Nobel Peace Prize on 9 Oct 2026.

UNAA Qld congratulates Navin Pillay on receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. This is incredible recognition of her work and outstanding contributions on the global stage.

'The future of human rights and the rule of law: Perspectives of an international judge and UN High Commissioner for human rights'.

Judge Navi Pillay is a distinguished expert on international criminal law and human rights. She served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014.

UNAA QLD shares the proud experience of hosting the Navin Pillay Lecture on Friday, 25 October 2019, at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, South Bank.

Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday

Today is the International Day of Non-Violence, in honour of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi — a leader who remained committed to the principle of non-violence, even in the most difficult circumstances.

In this time of rising division, tension and conflict, Gandhi’s lessons speak to us with renewed urgency.

"Let’s work to heal divisions through genuine dialogue and diplomacy, end suffering, and build a peaceful world through non-violence," says UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his message for the day.
