And that's a wrap. Amazing efforts from all Queensland and Antipodean dancers (and thanks to their supporters). Special mention to:
• Andie Lane – 6th Overall Scottish Championship and World Juvenile Championship Qualifier (with Aviemore studio, Townsville)
• Erin Loubser – 5th place World Juvenile Championships, Brisbane (with Speyside studio)
• Ellie Murgha – 3rd Overall in World Junior Championship final and Best Overseas Junior Dancer (with Speyside studio, but another great North Queenslander!)

Well done to all, especially our Queenslanders – Andie, Ellie, Erin!

On behalf of the NDAAI, we would like to congratulate all dancers, particularly the Australian dancers who have achieved fantastic results in Scotland over the past few weeks. Your hard work and excellent performances in the lead-up to the World Championships have made the entire Australian dancing community proud.We wish all competitors the best of luck as they take the stage at Cowal this week. The NDAAI, along with your supporters back home, will be proudly cheering you on every step of the way.

Congratulations to all Queenslanders and the other Australians, and our Aotearoa cousins, today (well, end of Thursday there), Friday, and Saturday, at the World Championships at the Cowal Highland Gathering, Dunoon, Scotland. Bring home the silver!

Special call out to our Queenslanders for their Thursday presence: Piper Lindsay and Andie Lane and Erin Loubser; and Ellie Murgha in the World Junior qualifiers (and through the heats!!), and Caitlin Reid and Mhairi Gorman in World Adults. Fab work!

The fabulous annual "Sugarcane and Swords" has been done. There are Queenslanders competing at The International Highland Dancing Festival Australia in Gosford NSW, and we have the City of Cairns Tartan Day competition and the MacGregor Titles coming up too!

(Cairns – entries close Mon 10 Aug 2026, for Sat 29 Aug 2026, and MacGregor closing Fri 28 Aug 2026, for Sat 12 Sep 2026.)

It is with sadness we report the passing of long-time stalwart of the former Queensland Highland Dancing Association, Jackie PATERSON (17 November 1942–26 June 2026). Can still hear your Scottish brogue. Thoughts are with her husband Hugh and family.

Jackie's funeral is next Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at midday.
