ANZAC Day 2026.

This Saturday, the 25th of April, ANZAC Day Services will be held across the electorate of Moggill.

Following the Dawn Service being held by the Kenmore-Moggill Sub-Branch at Booker Place Park, Bellbowrie, the Moggill Girl Guides will be hosting a gunfire breakfast for a gold coin donation.

This year, residents and the Upper Brookfield community are also invited to gather at the Upper Brookfield Hall from 7:00am, with local bagpiper, Peter Hurwood, playing the Last Post at 8:00am.

At 9am at the Brookfield Showgrounds, our Kenmore-Moggill Sub-Branch will also be hosting a local Morning Service, commencing with the annual march.

The Shell Green historical re-enactment will take place at the Brookfield Showgrounds, at 11am, followed by the annual 2025 Shell Green Shield Cricket Match, commencing at 12pm

Bolton Clarke Fairview, Pinjarra Hills, will also be holding a formal service for its residents, and their families, commencing at 10:30am.

Our local Mt Crosby Bowls Club will also host a special Commemorative Service at 11.30am, as a part of its ANZAC Day commemorations, with the Bowls Club open to residents and families from 10am.

Everyone is welcome to attend and her family note that seating is limited, but there is plenty standing room.

It will be their honour to have you all attend in person and help us say good bye to their daughter.

Additionally the awesome guiding community are setting up a second location with a live stream of the funeral, for those that want a more comfortable location to sit and watch and be with others to support each other.

They hope to see as many friendly faces as possible on the day and would like to advise purple ribbons will be available to align to our purple and butterfly theme. Feel free to wear your own touch of purple on the day.

After the service, you are all welcome to transition to the second location with the Harvey family, for some time of reflection, telling of stories and for some drinks and food.

Allyson was a much loved and treasured Guiding sister, giving 13 years of service across Happy Valley, Kenmore and Moggill District Girl Guides.

She will be remembered for her kindness towards her friends and leaders, always genuine, thoughtful, resourceful and respected.

Her Guiding journey was filled with special moments: selling Girl Guide biscuits, Snow Trek, Boomerang Bags, the INAS Games as a medal bearer, ANZAC City Marches and Gunfire Breakfasts, along with many camps and campfires.

Ally brought a smile to every gathering, always ready for adventure and giving her whole heart to everything she did. She lifted those around her, stood up for what was right, and gently reminded others of fairness and kindness. She also leaves behind a small, unforgettable legacy, introducing the surprisingly perfect pairing of jam and Vegemite on damper.

Allyson came from a Guiding family, alongside her older sister Emma and her mum, Cat, a Leader and District Manager. Guiding was part of who she was, and her absence will leave a lasting space in the hearts of all who knew her.

📣 Each year Girl Guides Queensland participates in the annual ANZAC Day March in the Brisbane CBD. Members can now register to take part via the website.

The Anzac Day parade provides a unique opportunity for members of our organisation to honour and support our veterans through service by assisting with carrying paddles and banners in the parade.

💭 She’s not the guiding type.
Ah yes.
The guiding type.
A rare mythical creature who:
🧶 loves knitting
🌧️ enjoys standing in the rain
🤐 is always well behaved
📏 sits quietly in straight lines
😇 has never once shouted “THAT’S NOT FAIR”
…said no actual Guide ever.
Here’s who is the guiding type:
✔ The girl who won’t stop talking
✔ The girl who won’t talk at all
✔ The girl who hates mud but loves snacks
✔ The girl who’s nervous but curious
✔ The girl who tries everything once (and complains loudly)
✔ The girl who says “I can’t” and then does it by accident
Guiding is not:
❌ A personality test
❌ A camping cult
❌ Just badges and clipboards
Guiding is:
✅ Controlled chaos
✅ Confidence building disguised as fun
✅ Learning stuff without realising it
✅ Snacks. So many snacks.
If your child has ever:
“I don’t know anyone 😬”
“I’ll be rubbish at it 😩”
“I don’t want to but also I do 🫣”
CONGRATULATIONS.
That is peak guiding energy.
