Join this 4-hour, hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to sharpen your blunt secateurs, loppers, hedgers, axes and spades — by actually sharpening them! Bring in your dull tools and leave with sharp ones (plus the skills to keep them that way). 💪 Then everyone will get out into the garden to learn how to use all the garden tools properly.

Through NSCF's Pay-it-forward Plant Program, we recently provided plants to the Murri School for their Bush Garden as part of their Young Rangers Project. 🌿

We were delighted to be able to support the children's knowledge and connection with native plant food and medicine in this way. 🖤❤️💛

Anyone can contribute to the Pay-it-forward Plant Program (via our website at Ethical Gifts) with all the funds going towards providing plants for First Nations organisations.

Join us for "Active Hope: Wise Responses for Uncertain Times", a weekend workshop grounded in the Work that Reconnects, the framework Joanna Macy spent decades developing before she passed away in July last year. Her work continues to offer people a way to move through despair and back into connection, resilience, and creative power.

🌿 August's Permaculture Plant of the Month: Lomandra
This versatile Australian native is a garden all-star. It provides shelter for small wildlife like frogs, insects, and birds, and most species adapt beautifully to different light conditions, from full sun to understory shade. It can also tolerate dry conditions as well as areas that get temporarily water-logged.

Its dense root system holds soil in place, making it a great choice for erosion control. And it's a plant with deep cultural significance: First Nations people have long used Lomandra for weaving, food, and medicine.
