A nice surprise in our email inbox:
A survivor shared this with us
"I started my healing journey just over a year ago… I started listening to your podcast just over a week ago and felt so moved and inspired. It's like something in my brain just flipped a switch and I was instantly energised to move out of survival mode into thriving mode. I am so excited for my healing journey and growing.
No doubt I will be paying it forward one day — helping other women.
My mantra has been: Healed Women Heal Women.

💚 SELF-CARE SUNDAY
Broken to Brilliant’s A–Z of Self-Care K is for Kindness

Think about the people who have shown you kindness along your journey.

Sometimes it is not the big things that stay with us.
It is the small acts of kindness.

A message that arrives at the right time.
A meal dropped off.
Someone remembering your name.
A quiet cup of tea.
A person who listens without trying to fix everything.

Small acts of kindness can help us feel seen, valued, and reminded that someone cares, especially in our darkest moments.

Research shows that acts of kindness are linked with improved well-being, positive emotions, and stronger social connections.

This Sunday, notice one act of kindness you have received , or one small kindness you can offer yourself or someone else. 💚
Share an act of kindness in the comments that you remember, that made a difference to your life.....

It was a beautiful morning in Mackay for our Broken to Brilliant Connection walk today!

There was just one of us… me, lol! (Maria, walk leader) I would love to find another walk leader so I can have a buddy! If you’re interesting in volunteering for Broken to Brilliant in this capacity, please message the page.

We are so lucky to live in such a stunning part of the world, that we can have our walk right by the ocean.

There is no walk for July in Mackay, so I look forward to seeing you all in August 🌼💛💫

It sits really uncomfortably to know that we get spikes of up to 40 per cent of family violence on the nights of what should be our great showpiece.

It's State of Origin, one of the most dangerous times of the year to be a woman as reports of domestic violence spike 40 per cent.

💚 Homeward Bound 💚

As the Brisbane Financial Superwomen™ team heads home, the resources remain in Mackay with the local Financial Superwomen™ team, ready to support future workshops and continue helping women build financial confidence, security and independence.

Over five days, we travelled from Brisbane to Townsville, Airlie Beach and Mackay, working alongside local professionals, volunteers and women determined to strengthen their financial confidence and independence.

Our photos don't capture is the part people don't see.

The early starts.

The long drives.

The airport waits.

The unpacking and setting up.

The planning, preparing, presenting and supporting.

And the friendships that grow when people come together with a shared purpose.

A special thank you to Karen Lindsay for leading the North Queensland Financial Superwomen workshops, and to Melissa, Desley, Amelia and Kate for the many hours spent travelling, preparing, presenting, listening, encouraging and supporting women throughout the week.

A special mention also to Baby Lilith and Grandma, Jen, for joining the team on the journey. Thank you for embracing the adventure and bringing plenty of smiles along the way.

The week was a true team effort, made possible by volunteers who generously gave their time, expertise and hearts to support women across Townsville, Airlie Beach and Mackay.

As we board our flights home, we are tired, grateful and proud of what can be achieved when communities come together to support women.

Thank you, North Queensland, for working with us and welcoming us so warmly. Together we supported more women in North Queensland.

Brave. Resilient. Brilliant. 💚

What a Documentary this will be! I thought what happened to me was normal. It took years before I found the courage to ask if dad's abuse was normal

In a comprehensive interview, Jeni tells SBS about the powerful act of giving voice to her childhood trauma, the legal battle for justice against her own father, and the importance of sharing our stories of survival.

💚 Heading Home from North Queensland 💚

As we headed home after delivering Financial Superwomen™ workshops in Townsville, Airlie Beach and Mackay, we are feeling equal parts exhausted and energised.

Exhausted from giving our time, knowledge and hearts over 3 big workshop days.

Energised by the women we met, they are so brave and strong and the communities that welcomed us so warmly.

This photo captures a special connection.

Karen, Founder of Financial Superwomen ™, and Kate, Founder of Broken to Brilliant, standing alongside a larger-than-life image of Broken to Brilliant's International Patron, Karen Jacobsen - The GPS Girl.

Although Karen Jacobsen couldn't be with us in person, she generously reached out to local professional women and encouraged them to support the Financial Superwomen™ workshop. Her ongoing belief in our work and commitment to helping women rebuild their lives means so much to our community.

Over the past five days, local professionals, survivor advocates, volunteers and courageous women came together across North Queensland in Townsville, Airlie Beach and Mackay to learn, connect and support one another.

Moments like these remind us that rebuilding lives is never the work of one person. It takes a community of people willing to share their expertise, encouragement and hope.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this journey.

We are heading home tired, grateful and inspired to keep going.

Brave. Resilient. Brilliant.💚

"For women with disability, community participation is a safeguard. Under the bill .... the risk of violence increases and becomes easier to hide."

Planned cuts to NDIS community participation budgets could leave participants in unsafe environments, including increasing their risk of domestic violence, advocates have warned.

💚 Mackay | Sunday 14 June 💚

Sunday in Mackay highlighted the importance of creating safe spaces where women can access practical information, ask questions and connect with support.

The room was filled with courageous women who showed up for themselves, asked questions, shared experiences and supported one another throughout the day. It was not always an easy day, but it was a day filled with courage.

A heartfelt thank you to Professionals Mackay Real Estate, Commonwealth Bank, Mortar Finance, local legal professionals and the Broken to Brilliant local lived experience volunteer.

Together with the Broken to Brilliant Financial Superwomen™ team, we created a supportive space where women could access information, ask questions and connect with support.

Thank you for giving your Sunday, your knowledge and your hearts to the women of Mackay. Your generosity and willingness to help made a real difference.

And to the women who walked through the door seeking support, information or a way forward, thank you for trusting us with part of your journey. We know how much courage it can take to ask questions, seek help and explore options for the future.

Through these workshops, sharing professional expertise a lived experience, something important happens.

💚 Women gain information.

💚 Women find support.

💚 Women realise they are not alone.

💚 Women begin to see pathways forward.

At Broken to Brilliant, we know that rebuilding after domestic and family violence takes time, support and access to the right information. We were honoured to spend the day alongside the women of Mackay and the local professionals who stood beside them.

Brave. Resilient. Brilliant.
