Mesulang / thank you Reng Collective and We Are Young Pacific Leaders for having Future Ancestors co-founder, Mary Harm at your recent Young Pacific Leaders Conference in beautiful Koror, Belau 🇵🇼

Gathered under the theme - “Youth Leadership for a Secure, Resilient, and Prosperous Pacific” ✨ - the conference created space for Pacific youth to connect, exchange perspectives, and translate the outcomes of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) into meaningful action across our communities.

🩵 As the Pacific navigates shared challenges and opportunities, the voices, relationships, and leadership of young Pacific Islanders remain essential to shaping the region our future generations will inherit.

Beyond PIF, beyond this week — the work continues. 🐚🌊

Paper Portrait Crafternoon ✂️🌺

One week ago, we held a special Crafternoon workshop in collaboration with Future Ancestors and the talented Jaelyn Biumaiwai | Digital Illustrator 🌺🌴 🌺

We had the pleasure of celebrating Jaelyn Biumaiwai | Digital Illustrator 🌺🌴’ Artist Corner at Helensvale Library, while bringing together a few community members for a Draw Yourself self-portrait workshop - part of an exciting bigger project Jaelyn has been working on! 🎨✨

If you haven’t already make sure to head down to Helensvale Library to check out the Artist Corner (you’ll be able to spot a few familiar faces from our MATAGI video or colouring-in book 👀)!

Vinaka vakalevu to everyone who came along and helped make the afternoon so special, and sending all the love to Jaelyn on this massive achievement ! 🌺🌺

Happy International Youth Day Future Ancestors! 🐚

Today (and every day) we celebrate YOU - the young people in our communities and the many beautiful, creative and powerful ways you show up for yourselves, each other and our communities. 🤎

You are not just the leaders of tomorrow, you are the leaders of today.

Thank you for being you, for all that you do and for all that you will do - the future is brighter because of YOU ✨

“Fangota kihe kato ava” - fishing with a bag that has holes in it.

This Tongan proverb is a kind reminder to prioritise self care.

✨ Repair your bag, rest and refill because caring for yourself is how you keep showing up for your village 🤎

“Taeka n rabakau : Tai ira te moan ang”- Kiribati Proverb

Do not follow the first breeze (Do not follow the first impulse)

The wisdom gifted through this Kiribati proverb reminds us that patience often creates space for better decision making and stronger relationships.

Sometimes the best decision isn’t the first one we think of but the one chosen after a moment of reflection ✨
