Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C) Our philosophy is basically to stop despairing about our long suffering environment and get out and do something on the ground to help it recover.

Bulimba Creek Catchment - working for the protection and restoration of Brisbane's second largest catchment through bushcare, education, rehabilitation and speaking out in defense of the natural environment. We believe that the antidote for despair is action! We engage in community education, school projects, bushcare group support and getting the community planting trees, weeding and working on w

Join Josh Bowell, Project Officer with the Queensland Glider Network and co-founder of the Yellow-bellied Glider Project, for a presentation on yellow-bellied gliders, greater gliders and the work being done to better understand and protect them.

Yellow-bellied gliders and greater gliders are threatened native marsupials that rely on mature eucalypt forests for shelter, feeding and movement.

The presentation will be followed by B4C’s Catchment Meeting.

This event is funded by Do-Op Shop, a non-religious charity that directs funds back into local community projects, including environmental and community initiatives delivered by B4C.

Who's off to the Ekka?
If so please stop into the BUPA stall in the Rest and Recovery Zone right next to Gate 2. And vote for the Finger Gullies project. We need you to visit the site and vote for our Koala Safe Access Project. BUPA will fund our project, up to $25,000. Project 1. (currently misnamed as Greenslopes) Most votes win.
The project will rehabilitate a 12,000 m² area of Mars Street Park, part of a vital wildlife corridor linking Whites Hill Reserve and Norman Creek, by removing invasive weeds, mulching, and replanting with dense native vegetation including key koala food and shelter species. Over 3500 plants to be planted.
The site contains 150–200-year-old Eucalyptus trees that support koalas, gliders, birds and diverse insect life, and the restoration will improve habitat connectivity, reduce dog related risks to koalas, enhance microclimates during heat events, and strengthen the ecological health of the gully feeding into the Brisbane River.

🎨 LAST-MINUTE TICKETS AVAILABLE – TOMORROW! 🦘🦋🐸

Due to a cancellation, we have about 4 tickets available for tomorrow’s Nature-Inspired Book Week Costume Workshop at the B4C Sustainability Centre in Carindale.

Join children’s author Cate Storey for a fun, hands-on morning creating Book Week costumes inspired by Australian wildlife stories.

From owls and frogs to gum trees, children can use recycled and craft materials to bring their ideas to life. We’ll have fabric scraps, felt, cardboard masks, headbands, fabric paint and plenty of other materials available.

📚 Optional things to bring:
• A favourite Australian wildlife-themed book for inspiration, if you have one
• A base outfit to build your costume around (e.g leggings and a shirt)
• We have heaps of materials and craft supplies, but you can also bring your own if desired.
No costume idea yet? No problem — we’ll have plenty of ideas to get you started!

✂️ Scissors and hot glue guns will be used, with PVA glue also available.
👨‍👩‍👧 All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Adults are encouraged to join in the costume making too!

The Grassroots Environmental Grants Program – Round 1: Koala Habitat Restoration(Program) provides funding for community-based, on-ground activities which seek to revegetate koala habitat and increase landscape connectivity in a Koala Priority Area or anArea of Regional Koala Significance.

B4C is working across three sites in the Upper Tingalpa Catchment.

🌿 Pioneer Drive Bushcare – Saturday 8 August 🌿
Looking for a great way to spend a couple of hours outdoors while helping local wildlife? Join the Pioneer Drive Bushcare group this Saturday from 3:00 pm.

Together we'll continue restoring Spring Creek by removing weeds, planting native species and improving habitat for local wildlife. No experience is needed—everyone is welcome.

📍 Meet near Pioneer Drive Park, Kuraby (roughly opposite 76–78 Pioneer Drive)
What to bring:
💧 Water bottle
🧢 Sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent

Gloves and all equipment are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own gloves if you prefer.

🌱 Families are welcome, and new volunteers are always encouraged to come along.

Former B4C Treasurer and longterm member and volunteer, Patrick is helping organise this important Prostate Cancer Awareness Event as part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Australian men. This free community event will provide practical information about risk factors, screening, diagnosis and treatment, with the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of experts.

🕕 6:00 pm for a 6:15 pm start (finishes by 8:30 pm)

We're excited to be hosting an Australian Animal Costume Making Workshop as part of the Peaks to Points Festival and in the lead-up to Book Week.
To make the workshop as sustainable as possible, we'd love to use recycled materials and are looking for donations of:
🧵 Earth and natural-coloured fabric
🐻 Fluffy or furry fabric
🧦 Stockings or tights
🪶 Unused craft feathers or feather boas
🎀 Headbands
🪢 Elastic
🧶 Felt offcuts
🔘 Buttons
🐨 Old animal costumes
✨ Any other unused craft materials that could be turned into an Australian animal costume

If you have any of these items tucked away at home and would be happy to donate them, we'd love to give them a new life.

Donations can be dropped off at the B4C Sustainability Centre, 21 Wright Street, Carindale, on weekdays.

🌿 A huge thank you to Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings! 🌿

On Friday, 24 July, staff from Toyota Tsusho South Pacific Holdings (TTSPH) joined B4C to plant 370 native habitat plants as part of our Cabbage Tree Creek Revegetation Program. 🌱💚

We are incredibly grateful for TTSPH's generous sponsorship of this important project. This is the first year of three years of support, with more than $40,000 in funding helping to restore and protect one of Brisbane's valuable natural areas.
Cabbage Tree Creek is home to important mangrove forests, saltmarsh and other native vegetation that provide vital habitat for wildlife. Unfortunately, these ecosystems are under pressure from invasive weeds, making ongoing restoration work essential.

TTSPH's sponsorship is helping to provide:
🌱 Weekly on-ground maintenance, including easement slashing
🛠️ Equipment and materials for restoration works
🤝 An annual planting event with the Brisbane based TTSPH team.

🌿 Thank You, Do-Op Shop! 🌿

A huge thank you to Do-Op Shop for their generous $2,850 grant, which enabled B4C to deliver a series of eight community environmental education workshops and events between November 2024 and May 2026.

Thanks to this support, 188 people took part in presentations, guided walks, wildlife encounters and hands-on activities, learning more about our local environment and practical ways they can help protect it.

Together, we explored a wide range of topics, including:
🌱 Creating wildlife-friendly urban spaces
🦎 Community Open Days with Geckoes Wildlife
🐨 Planting nutrient-rich food trees for koalas
🐰 Easter Bilby education and guided walks
🐟 Protecting freshwater ecosystems and Australia's rare native fish
🌸 Discovering local native orchids
🦝 Quoll conservation with the Quoll Society of Australia

🌿 A Fantastic Morning at Calamvale Bushcare! 🌿

As part of the Peaks to Points Festival, we welcomed 10 wonderful volunteers to Calamvale Bushcare on Saturday, including members of OCCA, returning volunteers, and two new locals who joined us after seeing the event on Facebook. It was fantastic to welcome some new faces to the group!

After a planting demonstration and a chat about the morning's activities, volunteers planted another 50 native plants, including native gingers and ferns, bringing the total planted over the past four months to an impressive 280 native plants. 🌱

The team then watered all 280 plants using the new 100-metre hose kindly supplied by Brisbane City Council and sturdy buckets generously donated by one of our volunteers. We finished the morning with a well-earned morning tea before exploring other areas of the park and discussing ideas for future restoration work to further improve this beautiful natural space.

A huge thank you to Peaks to Points Festival for providing morning tea and some of the plants, and to Brisbane City Council for supplying the watering equipment. Your support is helping this project thrive. 💚
