Earlier this week… more helicopters poisoning Samford Valley 🚁

The constant noise, stress and disruption is becoming unbearable for many residents. People feel like they’re being repeatedly sprayed without consent — despite there being NO fire ants in this area.

Fire ants also do not thrive in heavily shaded forested environments, yet helicopters continue dropping toxic bait over bushland and residential communities.

And all of this is happening while we’re supposedly in the middle of a fuel crisis.

Many Queenslanders are now questioning whether this program is causing more harm than good — environmentally, financially and socially.

There are peer-reviewed scientific studies backing up these concerns, including work by Professor Nigel Andrew, Professor Joshua King, and Dr Connie Turni.

Links to the scientific studies, supporting evidence, and documentaries exposing these issues are available via the link in my bio / Linktree or at:

Have you seen this ABC News article? 👇
It presents mass fire ant baiting as the only effective solution, yet recent peer reviewed research in Austral Ecology by Professor Nigel Andrew and Professor Joshua King raises serious concerns that this exact strategy may actually help fire ants spread by removing natural predators. The article doesn’t meaningfully engage with this emerging science or the growing scale of the infestation, now reported to exceed 1 million hectares.

When key context and conflicting evidence are left out, it risks misleading the public. After 25 years and billions spent, the footprint continues to expand while communities are being subjected to mandated blanket baiting across private land.

Queenslanders deserve balanced reporting, transparency and open discussion of all the science — not just one side of the story.

An independent review finds fire ant eradication is still achievable, but major issues, including poor communication, public mistrust and strategy confusion, must be fixed first.

Here’s Trevor speaking at the Springbrook Chamber of Commerce event, where he was invited to showcase his FASO (Fire Ant Soup Operation) machine.

In this video, he explains how this high-pressure, hot water system is being used as a targeted, non-toxic way to treat fire ant nests — as well as its potential to be adapted for other biosecurity challenges like weeds, and even practical applications such as cleaning.

This method is based on the work of Professor Joshua King and has been trialled here in Australia in collaboration with Professor Nigel Andrew.

The results are significant: when applied correctly, nests can be eliminated — with 100% effectiveness after a second treatment.

This is why Fire Ant Treatment Alternatives (FATA) supports this approach.

We are not saying “do nothing.”
We are saying — stop blanket chemical spraying and start using smarter, targeted solutions that actually work.

If you’re new here, take the time to understand what’s really happening — and what the alternatives are.

If you’re able to make it along to this event at Springbrook, it’s well worth attending.

Trevor Hold will be presenting and demonstrating the Fire Ant Soup Operation (FASO), including the launch of his newly adapted machine.

Please go along and support him — we know there is a better way, and it’s important to explore safer alternatives.

For those still questioning the current program, we encourage you to watch this documentary, which shares on-the-ground evidence and community experiences - link in Bio:

Fire Ant Treatment Alternatives is deeply grateful to everyone who supported Kristina during her legal matter.

Today, the charge against her was dismissed.

We thank her legal team for their work, and all those who contributed and stood alongside her throughout this process.

At Fire Ant Treatment Alternatives, we believe there is a better way to manage fire ants and continue to advocate for approaches that are safe, effective, and supported by the community.

🚨 Breaking news 🚨
A Brisbane Times report is now highlighting new research from Professor Nigel Andrew and Professor Joshua King, questioning whether Australia’s fire ant “eradication” strategy is actually making things worse.

In this clip, I speak with one of the authors of that research — leading fire ant expert and award-winning entomologist Professor Nigel Andrew — who explains how broad-scale baiting kills non-target insects and disrupts entire ecosystems, removing natural competitors and potentially helping fire ants spread.

What’s not being talked about is the scale.
These chemicals are being dropped across over 1 million hectares — in some areas up to six times — and in parts of the Scenic Rim, over 11 aerial applications have already occurred, with more planned.

As Professor Nigel Andrew states:
Any chemicals going out at this scale, this many times, WILL HAVE AN IMPACT.

After 24 years and $1.2 billion, the infestation is now over 20 times worse.
That’s not eradication — that’s escalation.

We also discussed safer, targeted alternatives — including hot water treatment systems like the Fire Ant Soup Operations machine, and subterranean bait stations. These are practical options many in the community would be willing to embrace, especially those concerned about chemical exposure — yet the current program continues to ignore them.

There is a better way.

Trevor Hold is taking this conversation directly to communities — and people are starting to pay attention.

He’s raising serious concerns about the current fire ant response — from the science being relied on, to the authority under which it’s being enforced — and those concerns are now being tested through the courts.

But Trevor isn’t just questioning the system.

He’s built a practical, on-ground solution.

His FASO (Fire Ant Soup Operation) machine — now upgraded and mounted on excavator tracks — is being rolled out as a Primary Producer Biosecurity Utility Vehicle, designed to give landholders a real, targeted way to deal with fire ants without blanket chemical use.

His message is simple:
Just say no.
There is a better way.

Trevor is now taking this solution into suppression zones and regional communities — demonstrating how it works and giving people real alternatives.

If you care about effective fire ant management, protecting your land, and having real choice — go along, listen, and see it for yourself.

More events are coming.

Let’s support solutions that actually work.

Love him or hate him, Donald Trump is speaking about childhood health and chemical exposure — a conversation that matters well beyond politics.

Here in South East Queensland, families are asking similar questions as fire ant control chemicals are blanket-applied across communities, often near homes, schools, and waterways. When chemicals are used at scale, children, wildlife, and vulnerable people deserve precaution, transparency, and independent scrutiny.

Protecting children’s health means asking hard questions — before harm is normalised.

On 23 December 2025, I appeared on The World Today to discuss the Queensland fire ant eradication program and its real-world impacts.

I was joined by Dr Conny Turni, a senior microbiologist, to talk through serious concerns about broadscale pesticide use, environmental harm, lack of consent, and whether eradication is even scientifically achievable using current methods.

Dr Turni shared her firsthand experience after her Somerset property was sprayed without notice, the resulting ecological damage, and the findings from her literature review challenging claims that the program is environmentally safe. I spoke about community impacts in Samford Valley, independent water testing, and expert warnings — including the open letter by Professor Joshua King — questioning the feasibility of eradication.

This is a measured, evidence-based conversation about cost, consent, science, and alternatives that deserve proper scrutiny.
