Getting in some practice on learned woodworking skills, our ladies at the shed recently completed this colourful wishing well planter.

Now finished ready for some water plants, and pride of place in our beautiful garden outdoor area.

Sunday was…

‘Happy International Women's Day!’

Go girls!
At the women's shed on Sunday, the workshop was making a cutting board, from rough to ready. Our members used the majority of machines in the shed to achieve this..very proficient!🪵

Well done ladies!
They really enjoyed the morning getting right into it, and of course the reward at the end of the day, was taking their finished board home. 🙌

🪵 Sunday at the shed 🪵

Today 6 of our members used their competencies gained in using the sliding compound mitre saw, and table saw, to make a pine toolbox.

Handy to carry all your woodworking bits and pieces! 🪵

Confidence gained, and a great sense of achievement for our members 🙌

Well done ladies!

🪵 Welcome to February! 🪵

What’s on this month for our members? 🤔

As well as our regular shed days, where we can learn and practice skills, in general woodworking, scroll saw, Pyrography, box making, and carving, members will learn how to make a toolbox, and become competent in using a table saw.

Lots to do, and of course, if you don’t have your own project to work on, join us in making a wishing well, for our shed. All skill levels welcome, even the beginners amongst us!

Check out all the events in your Helloclub account, and remember to book in quickly, as our special project and competency days book out fast!

🪵 Wednesday can be a full day of woodworking for our members! 🪵

From 9am to 12 pm, our shed is open in the mornings for a general shed session, giving you the chance to work on your own wood projects, or help out in a community project if unsure where to start.

Time for a quick lunch break, then join Ross, Col or Adrian, with our members at the Sandgate Men's Shed for wood carving.

Our carving sessions are self led, but beginners are welcome, as we all share our different skills on the day.

Today Diane, shared her carving bench ‘jig’ which is an easily made piece of ‘equipment’, that can make carving some items, just that little easier.

Pyrography 🔥 and general shed session from 9am to 12pm, on Fridays, so why not come along and try out… see if it’s a skill you might enjoy, and use for future projects.

Members please book for any shed sessions via your Helloclub account. 🙌

🪵 Bandsaw competency for members at the shed today. 🪵

Members are required to demonstrate they can safely and correctly use our bigger power tools, and gain competency, before using them for either personal or shed projects.

Today was the bandsaw. Robyn will show you how to do this, at our competency days throughout the year.

Keep up to date with future competency days via the events in your Helloclub account. 📆

🌟 Member project of the week 🌟

Our shed member started off with our favourite source of project furniture..a kerbside pick-up of a beautiful timber column. Decking timber was then cut to size, to make the round table. 🪵

Not wanting to waste any of the left over length of the column, it was put to good use as a cake/display stand. This is pictured displaying her coffee pot collection.

Both were finished off around the edges with trim, which she has then finished off with gild.

Beautiful result… don’t you think? 🙌

🪵 Friday session at the shed 🪵

Cooler temps today, made for good conditions to get some personal projects done by some of our members.

Cutting of draw faces for a work bench, on the table saw, and wooden hearts 💕 were cut, using a scroll saw, ready for carving for a community project.

A beautiful restoration of a kerbside find…which I will share in tomorrow’s Facebook post. 🪵 🙌
