Community Living Association Inc (CLA) believes in building inclusive communities where all people are valued. We are seeking new members to join our Board.
We welcome people who are committed to social justice, inclusion and the rights of people with disability, and the rights of young people in out of home care and their families.
You don't need previous Board experience. We are interested in people who bring different experiences, perspectives, skills and community connections.
Particular areas of interest include:
• Housing and property
• Finance and business administration
• Technology and digital systems
• Human resources and workforce development
• Disability and community services
• Governance and leadership
• Lived and community experience connected to CLA's work
If you care about strong communities, social inclusion and creating opportunities for people to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
These voluntary appointments are based on skills, commitment, governance fit and the ability to contribute to CLA's purpose.

What a fantastic day celebrating the achievements of our Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Regen Program trainees! We are incredibly proud of everything this group has accomplished, from building practical environmental and conservation skills to growing confidence, teamwork and connections within the community.

CLA proudly acknowledged this week – Sunday July 5th to Sunday July 12th - as NAIDOC week. This year’s theme is “50 Years of Deadly”, acknowledging the history and significance of NAIDOC week:

“50 Years of Deadly
For five decades, NAIDOC Week has celebrated the voices of our communities — steady, unapologetic, and proud. Each year, its themes have called for truth, celebrated culture, honoured resistance, and reminded the nation of who we are.

Fifty Years of Deadly marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement. the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.

NAIDOC has always been more than a week — it’s a platform, a protest, a celebration, and a statement of survival.

This moment is about looking back at the stories, the marches, the languages, the art, the leadership. At the strength it took to get here. It’s about recognising how far we’ve come, not by chance, but because generations of people refused to be silenced.

It’s also about the here and now, who we are today. Grounded in culture. Strong in our identity. Leading change across every field, from health and education to media, business, and the arts. We’re telling our own stories, in our own way, on our own terms.

And it’s about the future. The next 50 years. The young ones growing up proud. The return of language. The return to Country. The fight for justice continuing with new tools, new voices, and the same fire.

Fifty Years of Deadly is a marker, not just of time passed, but of the momentum still building. It’s proof of what our people build when culture leads and community comes first. NAIDOC belongs to mob. It always has.

We honour what came before by continuing the work.

This is our story. This is our celebration. This is our future.

👩‍🍳 What is the Good Food Project?

The Good Food Project provides participants with:
Hands-on cooking experience preparing delicious meals 🍲
Ongoing training and support from experienced staff 🤝
A pathway towards employment in the hospitality industry (or any other industry) 💼
A supportive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment 🌟
The opportunity to build confidence, make new friends, and achieve personal goals 🙌

🌿 Happy World Environment Day 2026! 🌿
Today, we celebrate the power of people and communities coming together to protect and care for our environment. This year’s theme highlights the importance of climate action and working with nature to secure a sustainable future.
At CLA, our Skilling Queenslanders for Work trainees completing their Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management are living this message every day. Through hands-on learning, they are developing practical skills that support environmental protection, conservation, and healthier natural spaces for our community.
From restoring ecosystems to learning sustainable land management practices, our trainees are building real-world skills while making a meaningful difference. Programs like this not only strengthen environmental outcomes but also empower participants with the confidence and experience to move forward into employment and further training.
🌱 Today we acknowledge the dedication and hard work of our trainees as they contribute to protecting our environment—because every action counts.
