The discussion around Queensland’s Mental Health Levy this week (see article link below) reinforces something important: the demand for practical, early mental health support across Queensland is very real.
At White Cloud Foundation, we are seeing the pressure firsthand. Queensland Health and Queensland Hospital and Health Services have been the largest referrers into our Tele-Mental Health service for several years, with thousands of Queenslanders referred for support as frontline systems continue to face rising demand, workforce shortages and growing complexity across mental health presentations.
Every year we support thousands of Queenslanders who might otherwise miss out on timely care, particularly in regional and rural communities.
Importantly, the infrastructure, partnerships and referral pathways already exist. The opportunity now is to continue investing in models that are practical, scalable and already delivering impact.
We look forward to continuing to work constructively with Government and the broader health system to help make that happen.

A $1.2 billion mental health levy will not be scrapped, the state government has confirmed, despite a damning report that questioned the management of the levy.
