Have you taken ever part in bushcare or been a community volunteer in habitat restoration along Brisbane's creeks and waterways? If so, Manu Patil a QUT Industrial Design student is doing a project looking for new opportunities and/or to support current operations further to amplify these efforts.

She would love you to participate in a very short survey to gather your views. The survey is open until Sunday 6th September and can be found here: https://forms.gle/fASDy1CR7YE5Fjsv7 So she could get close to her research, Manu has recently given time herself as a volunteer on the Tennis Avenue Bushcare site!

If any other groups are able to share this with their volunteers she would be most grateful! We've got all the right reasons to support the Davidson Street Bushcare Group folk given they work on the opposite creek bank to us! It's so good being able to join forces in our approaches to weeding and planting, as well as other initiatives like the cane toad bust and habitat boxes.

Hello - bushcare is on this Saturday!
Saturday 22nd August 3-4pm.
Meet behind the park shelter in Davidson Street Park for an hour of power weeding and a small planting.
Please be aware there are some steep cliffs and even some slight overhangs. We will point out the sections to stay clear of in the safety brief at 3pm so please be prompt this Saturday.
The creek bank bears the brunt of floods and can be eroded significantly, as it was during the events of February and May 2022.

Thanks to 11 wonderful volunteers and our ring-in photographer too for a great weeding and infill planting session just downstream of the green bridge yesterday. Still filling in post flood and wind event gaps, and removing pesky invasives, but it's looking so good! Lovely to welcome some new volunteers too!

A satisfying session removing a tangle of Madeira vine from our site today. Finding two large tuber clusters in the soil was extra special.

It's that time of year when the gorgeous complementary colours of the Brisbane wattle (Acacia fimbriata; yellow flowers) and Purple Pea-bush (Hovea acutifolia; purple flowers) show themselves off. And the downstream corner of our site near the cricket nets is putting on its annual show!

Huge thanks to a throng of volunteers for incredible efforts at yesterday's working bee at the Green Bridge. So many invasive weeds removed, fantastic native saplings uncovered and re-staked and gaps infilled with new lomandras and dianellas.

As our final working bee at the EOFY, this takes our total volunteer hours for the year to a whopping 437 hours!! Much of our work is done in collaboration with our neighbouring groups Davidson Street Bushcare Group and Tennis Avenue Bushcare

We could not do it without all of you, thank you!
