Flowers, friendship and a whole lot of fun!

As part of National Seniors Month, 90 of our wonderful clients enjoyed a colourful adventure at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, exploring the gorgeous gardens on display.

There were smiles, laughter, stories shared and plenty of special memories made along the way.

Days like these are about so much more than a change of scenery – they’re about building connections, community and making the most of life together.

And the best part? Our clients are already asking, “Where are we going next?”

Could social robotics help shape the future of aged care?

At BlueCare, we’re excited to explore the possibilities.

Our Gatton Centre Based Respite team recently welcomed students from QUT’s Centre for Robotics for their third visit, exploring how social robots could support aged care.

Meet Gladys, a MyCo robot who got our clients chatting, laughing and thinking with trivia, number games and memory challenges!

These visits create a valuable opportunity for researchers to learn from real-world experiences while our clients explore new technology in a welcoming, familiar environment.

💙 It’s National Carers Week!

This week, we’re shining a light on the more than 3 million Australians who provide unpaid support to a family member or friend.

Being a carer can mean so many things – showing up, lending a hand, making time, listening, advocating and being there through the good days and the tough ones.

This year’s theme, “Care for a carer: Making carers visible,” is a reminder to us all to recognise the incredible contribution millions of Australians are making every, single day to support a loved one.

If you know someone who is fulfilling the role of an unpaid carer, please take a moment to let them know that they are appreciated, valued and that their efforts do not go unnoticed.

For the past two years, BlueCare Springwood Yurana resident Fay has had one special wish for her 90th birthday: to get her very first tattoo. That wish has become a reality, with the help of her carer, Rosalie.

Fay was absolutely over the moon, and so was the tattoo artist, who had the honour of tattooing the oldest client they’ve ever welcomed into the studio.

It’s a beautiful reminder that age doesn’t define what’s possible. You’re never too old to try something new, be brave or do something that brings you joy. At BlueCare, we proudly support You Do You.

Queensland Seniors Month is more than sharing stories – it’s about helping our communities stay informed, connected and confident. 💙

Residents at BlueCare Azure Blue Redcliffe Retirement Village recently came together over morning tea for a practical session on scam awareness and staying safe.

The session provided residents with some simple but important tips:

• Never give personal or financial information to someone you don’t know or trust.

• Don’t be rushed into making a decision – scammers often create a sense of urgency.

• If you’re unsure, stop and independently check with the organisation using trusted contact details.

• Look out for each other – sharing information about scams can help protect friends and neighbours too.

• Ask for help if you’re unsure. Seniors Enquiry Line is a free information service for older Queenslanders, their families, friends and carers. Call 1300 135 500.

Sessions like this are available across our villages based on resident interest, helping communities access practical information on topics that matter to them.

Sunshine, adventures and a whole lot of fun! ☀️💙

Our BlueCare Townsville North Group knows how to make the most of a beautiful North Queensland day!

From ten-pin bowling and bocce to picnics along The Strand, museum adventures and scenic trips to the mountains, there’s been plenty of exploring, laughing and memory-making along the way.

And then there are the bus trips… where the singing is enthusiastic, the laughter is loud and everyone gets a chance to be the star of the show!

But the best part? These outings are about friendship, connection, new experiences and simply having a great time together.

A little sunshine, good company and a sense of adventure go a long way!

Today is the start of Queensland Seniors Month and we’re celebrating the wonderful people who make our BlueCare communities so special. 💙

Meet Beris Pritchard OAM, a resident at BlueCare Azure Blue Retirement Village Redcliffe whose commitment to giving back has spanned more than five decades.

From a career in education to more than 50 years of community service with Quota International – including serving as International President – Beris has dedicated much of her life to helping others.

Her contribution has been recognised with a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community, particularly through Quota International.

Today, Beris continues to make a difference closer to home, playing an active role in her retirement village community.

A little waffle, a few laughs and plenty of living life their way!

There’s always something happening with our BlueCare Ayr Social Support Group – from Waffle Wednesdays and morning teas to local markets, walks and fish and chips at Alva Beach. 🧇🐟

Because ‘doing you’ can be as simple as enjoying your favourite food, catching up with friends, getting out and about or discovering somewhere new.

A huge shout-out to our Ayr team for creating opportunities for our clients to choose how they spend their time, stay connected and do more of what they love.

🌻 Celebrating our Great Sunflower Grow Off winners! 🌻

Today is BlueCare Giving Day, a day to come together to raise awareness of dementia and support people living with dementia, their families and carers.

So it’s the perfect day to celebrate what happened when our Retirement Living villages took on the Great Sunflower Grow Off.

What started as a challenge to grow the best sunflower grew into something so much bigger.

There were plenty of laughs, new hobbies, creative ideas, friendships, shared talents and moments of pride. Residents encouraged each other, tried something new, connected across generations and, importantly, opened up conversations about dementia.
