Today, we celebrate BlueCare Sunday - a special opportunity to celebrate and reflect on our rich history, our ministry, and our enduring partnership with the Uniting Church in Queensland.

For more than 70 years, BlueCare has walked alongside Queenslanders with compassion, dignity and care. While much has changed over the decades, our purpose remains the same: supporting people to live life with choice, independence and connection.

This BlueCare Sunday also marks a new chapter as we embrace our You Do You campaign - a celebration of individuality and living life your way. It's a reminder that behind every client, resident, family member and team member is a unique person with their own story, passions and aspirations.

Today, we give thanks for our people, our communities and the privilege of continuing this ministry of care, now and into the future.

Entries are now open for The Great Sunflower Grow Off!

Open exclusively to BlueCare retirement village residents and teams in these villages, entries are open until close of business Wednesday 16 September.

Residents and teams across Queensland have been busy planting, nurturing and watching their sunflowers grow and now we want to hear the stories behind them!

The Great Sunflower Grow Off is about more than just growing the biggest or best sunflower. It’s about bringing our communities together, creating connections and raising awareness and support for people living with dementia, leading up to BlueCare Giving Day on 24 September.

What a web-slinging Ekka celebration! 🕷️🎡

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our BlueCare display at the 2026 brisbane Ekka, shared a story and connected with our team.

We even had two friendly neighbourhood Spider-Men swing by for a visit!

“It's the best thing I ever did.”

For Christina and Anita, life at New Haven Retirement Village in Redcliffe is about friendship, creativity and being part of a community that looks out for one another.

Sometimes the biggest change starts simply by saying hello. 💙

When Marion first moved into Wondall Gardens Retirement Village in Manly West, she admits she was shy and mostly wanted to stay in her own home.

Five years on, she says the friendships she has made are one of the greatest highlights of her move.

Alongside her friend Norma and many other residents, Marion now helps bring people together through village activities and the annual Biggest Morning Tea — continuing a fundraising tradition at Wondall Gardens that began in 2001.

“You know that if you need something, no matter what it is, there’s always someone at the end of the phone that could come and help, which is lovely.”

For Chris, moving to Yurana Retirement Village has brought peace of mind, friendship and a whole new lease on life. 💙

After leaving a larger home that was becoming harder to maintain, Chris wasn’t quite sure what retirement living would be like.

Now, she says it was “the best choice I ever made”.

From cups of tea with neighbours and village celebrations to peaceful walks with her cats, surrounded by birds and wallabies, Chris has found a community where there is always someone nearby and something to enjoy.

“Being in Yurana has given me a new lease of life.”
