Second Wind Community Band Inc.

Not for profit Community Concert Band All level of players welcome. Big Band is by audition only.

Community Band consists of four bands:

Concert Band;
Big Band (swing/jazz band);
Intermezzo (smaller group of wind and brass);
New Beginnings (for those new to band music or new instrument)

No audition is required for Concert Band, Intermezzo and New Beginnings.

Second Wind Big Band has opportunities for a keyboard player and bass trombonist. We rehearse Thursday evenings at the Everton Park Bowls and Community Club and perform regularly with monthly gigs at the Bowls Club, Bands in the Park performances and private events. Thank you to Geoff from ‘Intetmezzo ‘ for performing for us last Thursday. Geoff played ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ by Gianni Schicchi. Not only did we get a beautiful rendition of this song but also the narrative behind the song.
Geoff has been playing the alto saxophone for four years. His wife Barbara ( also a member of Second Wind Community Group ) plays the clarinet. Geoff used to take her to rehearsals and sit in the car and read … until one day she said why don’t you just learn an instrument and you can join! So he learned the alto saxophone!
On being asked what country he would most like to visit - NewZealand!
