A major reason I joined Rotary was to find community, to bring back "the village" for my family and other young families in our neighbourhood.

I took this photo a few weeks ago at the Salisbury BMX Track opening, and my heart could have burst. The nostalgia hit me right in the feels! The piles of bikes, not a device to be seen, children and families; running, playing, laughing.
This. This is why Rotary is important.

It is up to us to be the next generation of Rotarians, to continue the legacy, but to also create new vision, new purpose and to bring back "the village"; to re-connect communities.

In Rotary, we know there’s one thing you can always count on… plenty of Dad Jokes! 😂

Whether they’re groan-worthy, eye-roll inducing, or so bad they’re actually good, our Rotarians are always ready to serve up a classic!

So today, we celebrate all the amazing Dads, Grandads and father figures who give their time, share their wisdom — and never miss an opportunity for a terrible pun! 😆

📚 ROTARY BASIC EDUCATION & LITERACY MONTH 🌏

Every child deserves the chance to learn, read, dream and succeed.

This month, Rotary shines a light on the power of education and literacy to break the cycle of poverty and create brighter futures. Everyday Rotarians are funding and running programs both globally and within their local communities to create a brighter future.

A massive thank you to everyone who bought tickets in our BMX Raffle both online and at the event, we raised nearly $1000 which will go towards our major service project of providing Personal Care Packs to vunerable members of our local community.

A big congrats to Holly and family who were the lucky winners of the Kink Bikes Curb BMX Bike, with 3 young boys this bike will get great use for many years to come!

We had a fantastic morning at the Salisbury BMX Track opening, and really enjoyed spending time in the community, including chatting with Artie the young man who set the wheels in motion to get this facility off the ground!

What an inspiration Dolly Parton has been to all of us. Before she became “the Book Lady” to millions of children, she believed every child deserved the chance to fall in love with reading.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she collaborated with Rotary International to expand access to books and support young readers, one story at a time.

The program has delivered more than 23 million books to preschoolers in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. A year ago, Parton’s organization and Rotary International teamed up to further the effort, which costs US$28 per child annually. More than 140 Rotary clubs participate.

Key Lessons Dolly Taught Us:

✨Optimism: Believe that anything is possible.
🥰 Kindness: Always be kind to one another.
📚Impact: Literacy truly changes lives and opens doors.

Mid-Week Myth Buster! 💡
Myth: "All Rotarians do is cook BBQs."
Busted! 🎉 While you might occasionally spot Rotarians behind a sausage sizzle, that's only a small part of what we do.

Rotary members are involved in everything from youth programs and mentoring to community projects, fundraising, disaster relief, environmental initiatives, and international humanitarian work. We support local schools, community groups, and charities while also contributing to projects that improve lives around the world.
The BBQ isn't the mission, it's simply one of many ways we raise funds and connect with our community.
Behind every sausage sizzle is a bigger purpose: creating opportunities, supporting those in need, and making a lasting difference.
Rotary isn't about cooking BBQs. It's about building stronger communities. 🌏🤝
